Nope. LSU was almost a touchdown underdog. UT was #8 with only a 1 point loss to Florida.
That was one of the biggest wins in Miles' tenure IMO. If we lose that game we don't make that late season run to the Sugar Bowl with the Notre Dame beatdown and who knows how that changes things going into 2007.

Was just coming back to edit that into my previous post!! The night the Hatter was born
And I’ll never forget after JR threw that AWFUL pick to start the second half, his third of the night, Miles walked over and met him at the sideline. They had a lengthy but calm conversation and ended with Miles patting him on the helmet saying let’s go and JR just blew up after that.
Really was a great game and great win.
Damn the SEC used to be somethin else!!

Ya, I shouldn't have said good. I just remember him playing since Ainge was hurt, hoping we'd roll them. And he just tossed them over the top.

Nope, actually Tennessee was an underdog, and the line moved a lot when Eric Ainge got hurt. Yes, it was a great win, but no LSU was not the underdog, regardless of where the teams were ranked.

The best trip to Knoxville to watch LSU play was in Oct, 1967. Even though we lost the game, I stopped in Kingsport on the way back to my Naval station and met a young nurse. Six months later we were married. Fifty year anniversary in April 2018.

That was awesome but that wasn’t a called play. It was an option the punter always had if he saw there wasn’t a defender on the gunner and Jackson just made a heads up play to spot it and make the throw.

It was fitting that Russell threw an "interception" to end the game. The ball was intended for Bowe, but Doucet is a freak of nature and went up and behind him to reel it in.
