When does it end? You do realize the first game is a month away right? The media is doing just fine puting our team down, we don't need to help them.

He might not be a skilled runner necessarily, but his speed does make him a pretty nice threat. He will no doubt make some plays with his legs this year. And I think having an experienced backup will allow us to run more QB draws.

Skin color has nothing to do with it. You're either a QB or you're not. Either you're fleet of foot or not.

When I think of a scrambling QB, I think of Fran Tarkenton, Steve Young...et al....

Jefferson is a traditional QB, that Crowton tried to turn into a running QB. I think that is obvious.

Jefferson can run from a busted pocket but I don't like him on designed runs. He's deceptively fast.

JJ is fast (relatively) but isn't quick or evasive. One of the reasons I like him rolling out of the pocket.

Yea Jefferson is actually pretty fast. I'd bet my life that he'd beat Mauck in a 40. He just doesn't have great acceleration and has almost zero wiggle. Once he gets up to speed though he actually moves pretty fast.

+1
His film from Destrehan and GT performance where he looked like his true self and how he played last year were very, very far apart.
IMO he's fustrated with the scheme as well as execution.

JJ is one of those guys who runs faster than he appears to. Because of his height, he doesn't look like he's going very fast because he takes fewer strides. Matt Jones from Arkansas was the same way.

He doesn't have a running QB's instincts.

Crowton should have just let him be a pocket passer. Could have worked more on release/delivery/presence, and less on running.

Jefferson is a running QB. Just because you can't implement an offense around his running ability does not mean he isn't a running QB. He is good enough that the defense has to respect the fact that he can run with it. He runs design draw plays and QB read option plays pretty well, if he gets some blocking he can improvise pretty well too....I think he's a pretty good runner for a QB if you ask me....he just doesn't run the option well and Crowton hasn't figured that out yet.

No he isn't.

Just because he is quick, doesn't make him a running QB. He is a fast, mobile QB. . .but he is a traditional style QB.

A running QB is essentially a running back who can throw. This isn't JJ. He isn't elusive and isn't quick. But he can run. JJ is a QB who can run, not a "running QB."

Truth

I think he is, I just don't think he has the instincts. His feet are quick enough. He starts fast enough. . .he is just used precisely wrong for what he offers.
