No one in the history of sports has ever delivered such a bold and startling guarantee upon the heels of such utter humiliation and amidst the most dire of circumstances. Not even Muhammad Ali, Joe Namath, Babe Ruth, nor Tim Tebow declared assurances of this magnitude. The reporter who found himself on the receiving end of this menacing glare has since moved on to another profession due to his inability to look upon another subject without seeing the face and hearing the sound of Coach Orgeron emanating from its person. November 4, 2017, is a day that will forever be remembered in Louisiana and American sports lore.

"Were going to score 40, 50 and 60"

"Were going to take the opening kickoff. Drive the ball down the field and score"

Paraphrased, but I like those too.

And Jimbo mocked him on Saturday night. "We're coming, we're coming" after losing their 4th game this year.

The premature celebration on this board occassionally makes me nervous. We still have to beat TAMU, UGA, and two playoff teams to achieve the program's true aims.

Conceivably, we could lose to UGA and fail to win either the SEC or NC.

This is a great LSU squad, but I'll wait to gloat until we've won the SEC and the NC.

Most coaches say things like this....but its obvious this dude really meant it, from his cajun soul.

To quote, Don and Scott Long... Its a great time to be a Tiger!

i would love to see a timeline bar graph on the usage of "but he talks like us!" or "shrimp boat captain" over the past 3 years. I imagine it dropped like a reverse hockey stick after the Texas game.

LSU has won the West, beat Bama at Bama, and are 11-0. While there are a lot of goals left to fulfill, I'd say they came and didn't back down.

Coach O will always be the Shrimp Boat Captain, but it's now a term of endearment. It's like being called a Coonass. Maybe wasn't a compliment at first, but...

Needs to be engraved on a plaque on the side of tiger stadium for posterity, similar to Tebow's speech at Florida

We comin'. And we aint backin' down. - Coach O

Nobodys claiming any championships yet, but we have already kicked Bama's arse once, won the SECW, and all but have a Heisman locked up. Its a great season, Enjoy the ride !

Actually, I think the most most prophetic one he had was even shorter...

"frick 'DEM!"

Other than blowouts, losses at this point would be reasonable. Texas A&M would be the only one we shouldn't lose to under normal, 2019 circumstances, but they're still a good team. UGA and the playoffs... those could go anybody's way.

Does anyone know who the reporter was and what question the reporter asked to get this response?

I clowned him for it after we were shut out again after the statement. I mean sometimes things are warranted at the moment. Did he mean it? Of course and he’s done a excellent job hiring and believing in his coaches since. The credit is due now..it wasn’t back then and that’s just life, man. What have you done for me lately?!?
The man deserves credit and any hate remaining is just plain dumb.
