God, Tim Lanier's line from that inning is ridiculous. 2 AB, 2 H, 3 R, 5 RBI, 1 HBP, 1 2B, and 1 HR. That's probably the best game he ever had, all in one inning.
Yea, Lanier was a great catcher but not known for his offense. If memory serves me correctly (and this is a BIG IF) though, he had an excellent post season at the plate in in 1996.

I remember listening to this game on the radio with my pops. We were in the car and heard the inning start. We were running errands and for some reason we got out the car in the middle (store closing or something) and got back in to catch the rest. We could not believe it. I thought Warren Morris ironcially made two of the outs that inning. PBP confirmed this. Lanier did struggle, it seemed offensively for his career but had a spectacular post season run this year...this is all a lot of us remember...a la Jim Greeley, Weylin Guidry, Ray Wright, Tom Bernhardt, and all the other role players who had nice runs.

I think you're right. As a Baltimore guy, I personally thought he was LSU's Rick Dempsey. A defense first guy who suddenly became Josh Gibson in the postseason.

I was on that team, we kicked their arse. There coach was throwing shite all over the dugout. Bertman didn't say shite to us, and he would never tell us to get out on purpose.
I'm guessing Kevin Ward too.
Ok, I'm wrong and I know I am.

I guess I'm kind of a stalker now, but Blast and Laugh is either James Hemphill or Keith Polozola. Both JRs on the '96 team. B and L info say he was born in '74 and his other posts states he has 2 rings, so that means he was a JR. In another post he says his father who played football and an uncle who played baseball. '70 Tommy Hemphill was signed as a L for FB. '73 Bruce Hemphill was signed as a OE in FB. Or Judge Frank Polozola played baseball in '61. Ok, I'm done now.
