I agree... Something else I don't understand..... The lengths some LSU fans will go to defend anything les miles does.
I don't hate les miles nor do I even dislike him.
But anyone with half a fricking brain and the slightest bit of football iq would agree that play was not only unnecessary but incredibly stupid.

it was like it was done on a whim. or to entertain the players. miles certainly was convinced our defense would stop them. and he was wrong.

The only thing I thought was it was done for Georgia; put it in the back of their mind...

I'm guessing it was either an attaboy for Seth Fruge--dedicated walkon--(he ran that fake, right?), or it was just to put the idea in the minds of our future opponents. It obviously was out of place.

That was Les playing it conservative... Oops,my bad - wrong thread!

Actually, my own theory is that the coaches did not think they had much chance at a FG even though it was close enough. The field was so wet and soft and the footing so bad that the extra points were practically punted through the uprights and were either low line shots just over the DL or almost wide. I was actually surprised they did not go for it outright.

BTW, I was at the game in row 18 and it was a sloppy track all night. Kudo's to the TS ground crew for having it that good.

When you have a kicker that has not missed a field goal this year, give him a chance to put points on the board plus let him see what its like to kick one in the rain!

That was all on miles. All the good shite was obviously all Cameron but that bad play was all miles' fault...

Here's a thought for all of you in the X-Box coaches club.
You say the fake field goal was dumb?
How about the onside kick try? Think about it

If Auburn kicks deep, LSU is in a hole. Given how the Auburn D was playing, they force an LSU punt and get the ball in decent field position.
As things turned out, LSU recovers the ball and when Auburn gets the ball back they are farther from the LSU goal.

If the fake field goal was bad, so was the fake onside kick. If the onside kick was good, so was the fake field goal play. They both failed.

Lulz at everyone who thinks it was strategic for later in the season. Les has been making those calls since he arrived here. He is known nationally as The Mad Hatter because of those calls. Do you really think that particular play is now going to make sec coaches re-evaluate their special teams when playing against us?

Only strategy taken away from that play is we dont have a kicker we trust over 25 yards.

Easy. Get the first or TD on the fake and game is over. Missed the fake and you have Auburn pinned down between the 15 and 5. It was the 5 for us.

The odds of Auburn going 95 yards for a TD was small. Yet, it happened...welcome to college football. Run that scenario 100 times and Auburn gets a TD 5 to 10 times.

Odds football.

Kick a FG and your are up by 3. Does not have the same effect.

LSU gets a first down or a TD on that fake and you have taken all the air out of the Auburn balloon. Theoretically if it fails, you defense can stop them from scoring on the on the possession.

That brothers and sisters is why they play the game. High risk high reward. Now all of you that are hyperventilating over this call will have lost all credibility if you ever bitch about Miles being too conservative.

dude you are the one who claimed that it was the worst decision les has ever made and if anyone didn't agree with you they knew nothing about football. It made you sound like an idiot

The fake was based on a weak spot I'm the way Auburn lined up to block the kick. I'd imagine it was spotted on film study and they wanted to take advantage of it if they had the chance.

It wasn't just called on a whim, it was called because they thought they could exploit the middle of Auburn's FG block alignment. They came up a yard short.

I'm not suggesting it was a call made on the whim.
I'm suggesting that at that point of the game 3 points would have made it 31-7 so trying to gain 10'yards up the middle with Seth fruge carrying the ball wasn't a smart call.
The risk wasn't worth the reward.

Take the 3, kickoff, play defense.
Game is over.

Agree completely. Would I have done it? Probably not, but you wouldn't me (or any of the posters on TD) coaching the Tigers! It is the kind of play I expect to see from a Miles led team and am glad we get those surprises once in a while.
