The fact that LSU will have a winning record is a mini miracle

The record speaks to how good of coach WW is, this team is less talented than last years team and he someohow has gotten 16 wins out of this squad. We got spoiled early on with some really good wins, but in reality theres maybe only 4 players at most that will get PT next year in Waters, Mays, and then Sampson and Edwards if they stay.

Yeah our weaknesses really have been on display in conference play.
Look forward to Bigby-Williams aND Reid down low next year

Also underrated is that outside of the Maui games and 2 in SEC play with limited roster we haven’t been blown out of the gym.
He’s got this team competing the full 40, just wait with next year’s roster

Hopefully we can squak into the NIT and get some more experience for Tremont.

It's gonna catch alot of people off guard how much of a turnaround the team will take next year.

Edwards
Gotta say I like our chances better with him playing tonight. He's been giving good minutes.

I think you are forgetting someone. Rachal has some good upside and he played his arse off tonight. The more he plays the better he'll get.

I can’t wait to see what he does with actual talent on the roster. Sims, Mays and Sampson are reserves in this conference.

Honestly Sims should be somewhere like Tulane and not in the SEC, the only reason he is here is bc he played with JJ's son and bc of his dad

I have heard rumors Edwards may transfer and there really isn't s spot for Rachel to play next year unless he gets better at shooting.

I'll say this, when we went to the press the last two games, he and Mays were making plays.

Good god weak down low is an understatement. Thought Jones was this great recruiter but couldn’t coach.

I played Sims, Epps, Mays, and Sampson in HS, Mays and Sampson were light years ahead of Epps and Sims although Epps has improved a lot since his freshman year.

I hope not, WW loves Edwards...but we'll see.

Just my opinion, that would be a mistake, Rachal has great upside. I know he's a CJJ recruit but at least in my view, WW would be making a mistake if he gives up on this kid. 11 boards tonight? Better recognize.

I like both Edwards and Rachal. I’d hate to lose them next year.

Agreed Truth, development is still relevant even in this day and age. I think these two can fit in nicely next year.

Wade has done a good job overall, but tonight's loss was on him. His guys played their hearts out, but that offensive approach was John Brady level dog shite.
USC is a great defensive team. So what does Wade do? Run nothing but high ball screens 30 feet from the basket that (a) made LSU very easy to guard and (b) largely resulted in 20 seconds of dribbling without a single pass until panic set in with 10 seconds on the shot clock. Movement away from the ball was virtually non-existent.
That LSU was able to erase a 15 point deficit and force OT was a testiment to just how hard they played. LSU actually dominated the glass and played decent defense (for them) and STILL lost by 9. The reason is because they were incredibly inefficient on offense.
The future is bright, but Wade was bad tonight

Coach Wade didn’t miss 11 layups though

"Layups" makes it sound like there were uncontested. They were. It was tough sledding at the rim. But LSU played right into USC's hands by being willing to grind out offensive possession and too much dribbling.
This team has been killed all year on defense and rebounding. Tonight they were GREAT on the glass. They were better than they usually are on defense. They were just inefficiency on offense because of the game plan. It took great individual effort by the guys on the court because they gameplan itself provided very few good looks.

You’re assuming the players ran the offense Wade was calling for. High ball screens were one part of the planned offense early, but Wade also had some motion offense, ball reversal perimeter passing offenses that the players weren’t executing.
I was at the game, sitting behind the bench, and Wade was going crazy about some offensive possessions. I think it was while Tremont was sitting. At one point near the end of the 2nd, LSU scored after a patient ball reversal set that ended up with May’s open for the 3.
Coach came back to the bench arms outstretched, asking rhetorically “so, how difficult was that?”
It seems to me that, our players sometimes go into a sort of panic frenzy mode, and maybe that’s where coach Wade needs to have a strategy to calm them down and refocus. You only have so many timeouts to use.
I do agree that he did not coach the OT well at all, and when all is said and done, that’s where the game was lost in the end.
I also wish Epps had done SOMETHING this game!
