The Day After the Fiesta Bowl - A 2019 Retrospective in Verse

'Twas the day after the Fiesta Bowl
New Year's 2019 on the desert sand
The Tigers had disposed of an upstart
With a squad that was a bit undermanned
Our fans were optimistic
About what our team was becoming
And proceeded to tell the nation
Watch out y'all, we comin'
The nation scoffed at our hopes
They thought these Tigers were more of the same
Even when our quarterback predicted we'd score
Forty, fifty, sixty points a game
But this quarterback was no average Joe
The former Buckeye backup from Athens, Ohio
Who Louisiana would adopt as Burreaux
Would inspire fans even beyond Shreveport and Galliano
We paid a visit to Austin and the Longhorns
They called themselves the real DBU
Sorry about that, Bevo
Joe was better than you
Three games in, many said this is our year
"Our offense is terrific"
After Vandy some fans worried
"Our defense is apocalyptic!"
Florida swaggered in just after gator season
They thought stopping us was no big deal
By the end of the game Dan Mullen
Knew these Tigers were for real
Auburn thought they slowed us down
Gus Malzahn even said "Boom"
They wanted to be top Tigers in the conference
But on the mountaintop there was not enough room
We went to Tuscaloosa
That elephants' den of despair
With hopes of launching our season
Further into rarefied air
We rolled the Tide with a big game from Clyde
The offense was on fleek
Coach O said RTWFU
And no, he didn't say freak
Louisiana, this win
Was for every one of you
It's for Trump in Tuscaloosa
And for James Carville too!
We brushed aside the Rebels and Hogs
And the defense kicked into gear
Then the Aggies came to Death Valley
Hoping we'd forgotten last year
But these Tigers hold long grudges
Forgotten slights are very few
We reminded them that in the SEC
They're still relatively new
We got the cadets' attention
Reveille was one sad pup
The Aggies saw the scoreboard and said
"We're not putting that one on a cup"
We pounded the Dawgs in their backyard
Kirby must have felt pretty low
Even Bama didn't beat them that bad
Two years in a row
We scored Sooner and later in the semifinal
Heisman Joe lit the scoreboard bright
Hurts and Oklahoma
Did not put up much of a fight
At last the big game arrived
Tigers filled New Orleans to the brim
Purple and gold for us and Mike
Orange and an underfed mascot for them
Our Tigers had a shaky start
We had a little fright
A few big plays by Clemson
Made us wonder if this would be our night
But the good guys got things going
Ja'Marr and Thaddeus eased our fears
And our spirits were hardly dampened
When concessions starting running out of beer
Dabo prayed and begged the Lord's help
"We need to go 30-0!"
The Good Lord said
"Sorry - Not tonight Dabo"
Could any doubt this was a team of destiny?
At last the story could be told
As we left a fog-shrouded Superdome
Lit up purple and gold
And through the mist came the Golden Band from Tigerland
Marchin' and a drummin'
Serving notice for 2020
Watch out y'all - we comin'

This thing needs a TL;DR

So Much cringe. My cringe meter just exploded.

Yea I'll admit TLDR for many but figured I'd throw it out there. Seeing the Tigers win a championship making me wax poetic.
