Gators ranked higher -18th with the tigers unranked.
Gators have better record - 4-1 vs 3-2
The game is in the swamp.
Yet, the tigers are a 3 point favorite according to Vegas.
Go figure?

That's because Vegas is smarter than the AP and coaches.

Vegas sees each game in a vacuum to determine head to head and factor in location and externals such as potential hurricanes. The polls look at the history of the season to rank teams. The team with the better record in the same conference will usually be ranked higher but not necessarily favored to win. The polls will catch up if Vegas is right.

The betting line is not so much a factor of who they think will win as it is a factor of how much money is placed on one particular team. If all of the money is on one side, the line moves in the other direction. The line allows the casino to spread their risk.
