I too was at that game with some old college buddies. The game was awesome but our suv got broken into & some stuff was stolen.Anyhow, the memories are great. Also remember many games with Chris Jackson as a freshman.Went to most of them back then.Best pure shooter I've ever seen live to this day (college wise).

How about '90 UNLV?
Runnin Rebs jump off to a huge lead as we have no answer for Anderson Hunt and LJ, both of whom go into double digit scoring very quickly.
In comes CJ, who gave one of his top 5 shows...nothing was missing for a while and he ended up with about 40. Mo Williamson had a career day, hitting for over 30. Shaq and Stanley finally showed Johnson, Butler, and whoever filled in for Stacy Augmon (he was suspended for phone calls with a fradulent credit card).
It was Super Bowl Sunday. Dick Vitale was going nuts. The Broncos lost by 50 to the 49'ers.

Dickie V was hilarious. Every time shaq got down the court he was hollering "give it to the big man, give it to the big man".

Random memories:
Anthony Wilson's shot - loudest I've ever heard the PMAC
Derrick Taylor's half-court shot
Barkley and Domino's pizza boxes
Dwayne Schintzius (sp?) and tennis balls
Getting in line at 6AM for UNC and UK games
Student section packed EVERY game
Watching Nikita Wilson dunk on Vandy from press row - thanks to a media friend
Wichita State in the Superdome
The OMNI in Atlanta
Reunion Arena Final Four
A road game in Beaumont at LAMAR (why'd we ever play over there?)
The "freak" defense
"Astronaut" Scales
"Baby Magic" - Steffond Johnson
Jerry "Ice" Reynolds
Leonard "Swat" Mitchell
Howard "Hi-C" Carter

Yeah he did. Tigertown, did you ever see that McDonald's game with Shaq in it? I've never heard Vitale go so nutty in my life. He coudn't believe it when Shaq dribbled the length of the court and flushed it.
Then, there was the Arizona game his soph year...that was an awesome ending!

Extra points for whoever knows what the "freak" defence was.

A simultaneous combo of man to man and zones that switched up, confusing the offenses?

Yeah ,I saw that one. Some of these posts are bringing back some good memories.

1985-86 early in the Final Four season. We won 74-57. It looks like we were on our way to Austin to play UT the next game that we also won 72-65.
BTW - I don't remember all this. I'm looking it up in the book "Fighting Tigers Basketball".

I've got my own, thanks. Since when is the final tv timeout taken with 6 minutes left?
And that is beside the point...you make an effort to show up and belittle me. You have done it 3 times now.

Pisces, you are correct about the Duke game. LSU took the lead on a Jamie Brandon dunk. Remember they put that noise meter in the Deaf Dome for that game. If I'm not mistaken, Coack K introduced the world to the "Hack A Shaq" defense in the last couple of minutes. Shaq could not hit a free throw to save his life that day. Also, I believe Bobby Hurley was injured and didn't play. Grant Hill stepped in at point.

Another gem:
The '87 road into the tourney.
The '87 team was 7th place out of 10 going into the SEC tourney. NIT was all but done. It would take a miracle for the Tigers to even get out of the 2nd round of the SEC.
The run started with a win over last place Miss State on Thurs night in the Omni.
The following night, LSU had to face a team that had beaten them twice already in Florida - the #2 seed of the SEC. The "M&M Boys" - Maxwell and Moten - were said to be unstoppable and UF had a decent down low game, too. LSU, however, got hot with Nikita Wilson and Darryl Joe and knocked off the Gators.
The following day, LSU would have to play Georgia, bascically in their own back yard. LSU got up to a 25 point lead. It was a lock, until the Dawgs came back. In double OT, LSU knocked off UGA to set up a finale with awesome #1 seed Alabama, who had also swept LSU in the regular season.
Despite a noble effort from Wilson and co., LSU could not overcome and win the SEC Tourney. Would 3 SEC tourney wins be enough? Yes, as the Tigers recieved a 10 seed that same day and would face GA Tech, a team they had beaten at the PMAC that same season.
Behind Darryl Joe's 7 3 pointers, LSU knocked out the Yellowjackets and would meet John Chaney's 2nd seeded Owls of Temple. LSU had no trouble with Temple's exceptional post game and shooting guards and rolled by 9. It would set up a Sweet 16 showdown with Rod Strickland and DePaul, who had lost 2 games all season. Behind Wilson and Wilson, LSU knocked off DePaul by 5, sealing it with a breakway layup and foul shot by Bernard Woodside. LSU went on to the regional final and lost to Indiana (which you can read about in the Fess Irvin thread). LSU was very close to repeating and going to New Orleans for the Final Four. It would have been tough to beat them there.
The '87 team was another magical story of Dale Brown's. NO way does any other coach even get that team into the dance.

You're right. I had forgotten Hurley was out. And I believe the kid from Mobile (Antonio ______)who we went after started in his absence as well.

You called me a dumbass for no reason in a thread just a week ago.
And I will check the tape later to see for myself. Regardless, you're an a-hole.

Do you remember duringthe 1987 SEC Tourney Dale Brown refused to go to sleep until they lost. By Sunday he looked like a truck ran over him. Things like that is why we loved Daddy Dale so much.

yeah, I'm such a dumbass for that. A game from 1992 that neither of us can prove, at the moment, about who's right.
