Also Aranda saw this too many times this spring and called the correct defensive call.....

You will see the WTF looks on the other teams when SEC play starts. For 10 years before their LSU game they took the week off. As they knew what we would do. Not this year.

It's when Etling hands off to a pulling offensive lineman, the lineman runs the ball in for a TD in the Bama game you will see Saban slump over and croak....

I agree with your post. Sometimes you actually take a loss of yards and it's not a bad thing. Not so much that you're hoping for your play to fail, but you may understand that it likely won't work but it's being used to set up something later.

The jet sweep motion may get stuffed but it forces a defender to respect it, which takes a man out of the box. If he doesn't respect it, you just give the sweep and there's likely to be an alley available. You can run QB power underneath it when the defense overpursues to the sweep. You can run counters.

Basically what I'm saying is is that real football isn't madden. You don't call plays trying to score every play. It's chess, not checkers.

I think this played a factor as well

I mean shite we saw what Aranda did with a month to prepare for Lamar Jackson.

When I watched practice Thursday I focused more on the offense since the defense were mostly doing drills. But every time I glanced over those drills always were reading jet sweep and misdirection type stuff. I think Aranda treated this week like a game week and planned accordingly.

Say what you will about the rest of the staff.
Mr. Aranda appears to be a serious man...

I finally got to watch it on youtube. First thing I noticed was how dang fast our defense is. I believe they had an extra step in knowing where and when the ball was going. It's always hard running plays against your defense because those guys know your plays and even will steal the signs going in. It's not necessarily malicious but just competitive. I'm glad Guice only got like 6 carries in this game which left a lot of jet sweeping. It's to protect him and I agree with it. The last thing you want is to gimp your star running back.

The passing was atrocious though and count me on the list of just wishing we could get a decent QB. Unfortunately I'm not on the list of believing anyone else will be ready or better than Ettling. I wish they were but unless we end up really lucky, we're just going to have to work around a bad throwing QB.

Coaches won't let that happen if Offense can't execute the hunh. They may have to go more ball control. Basically the offense will play defense as well by keeping offense on the bench. Another way to stop them from scoring

Please stop comparing the offensive performances against Bama and UF.

Against Bama, playcalling itself regressed dramatically (can't figure out why) and we were dominated upfront.

This was not the case vs. UF. We moved the ball at will and then continually derped the game away in the red zone.
