It sure will be strange to hear blair next year, grew up with Mr Jim calling games because of limited tv coverage not so long ago. It will for sure be a change but as we all know all changes are not bad. Maybe time for one here, as bad as i hate it.

It scares me sometimes when I think how long I've been around. When I was a kid, John Ferguson was the Voice of the Tigers, and Jim Hawthorne was working at KNOC in Natchitoches.

All the best to Jim.

Favorite Hawthorne moment

Arkansas kicking our arse this season in Tiger Stadium. They run out Jim on the field for his recognition. Our head coach instead of worrying about what is going on with our team during the timeout spends the entire timeout between quarters standing to the side so he can go shake hands with Hawthorne

Thanks, Jim!
Enjoy the time away from the mic.
I moved to BR in the 80's, so you're the only Tiger voice I've known.
Going to be strange…

I wish him well but never liked him doing football or baseball. He tries to predict a play instead of watching and describing.

He really struggled with baseball and maybe I'll be able to listen to the games on radio again.

But I wish him well.

Thank you Jim. How many games did I listen to before TV was every weekend. Hundreds!! It was so easy to find on AM radio, spin the dial to you heard that voice.

Love him while he was here but it was time. Half the time he didn't know what was going on and who just caught the ball. He could make a 5 yard gain sound like a 50 yard gallop though. LOL
