No need for analysis and debate and all that nonsense. LSU is gonna beat the brakes off them boys, it’s that simple.

Back in my LSU days ...late 80's

In the early-mid 80s, they use to have a great Beatles/English Invasion cover band play there regularly— want to say it was The Shoes. Good times.

Had a roommate who got a job there and showed up hungover for his first day— walked off after a few hours manning the fry vats.

I'm having a hard time with the last 3 sentences, to be honest.

Not sure what’s hard to understand. LSU has a track record of being able to run the ball. They ran 5 different backs and worked a lot of different looks in game one. I’ll be the first to say they looked better throwing to the backs than running from the shotgun. However, I know based on the track record this O Line has that they can run the football when it’s necessary. They put up yards on A&M’s very good run D on the road last year. Same with Auburn. The only teams they struggled against last year were UF and Bama, and I’m sorry but Texas’ D Line isn’t in that class. I’m not panicking over game one because I know they can line up and get yards when they need them.

As for Texas’ secondary vs LSU’s revamped passing game, I don’t see a track record based on their performance last year that would make me feel better about giving up yards last week or how this weekend will go. They gave up a ton of yards through the air last year. I know LA Tech has a good QB and a good passing attack, but LSU has a senior starter at QB who has been through some battles vs better defenses and the 2nd best WR corps in the SEC. I don’t think anyone outside the state of Texas will be favoring them over the LSU passing offense this weekend.

This poor Texas fan fails to realize that our secondary is only going to need to cover for <2.5 seconds because after that K’Lavon and others will be planting the poor bastard on his back. I envision a game similar to the Vanderbilt game in 2005 in which we sacked Jay Cutler 5 times, forced 2 interceptions and knocked Cutler down so many times they took him out so that he would survive the game!

Ignoring the Aggie comment, if you think we aren’t a rushing threat you’re going to be in for a long day.

Fair post. As a lifelong Tiger fan, I am super amped. 2011 was a tad of a surprise of an epic year, but 2007 was the only other year I had this level of a vibe about an LSU team.

UT provides the first glimpse into whether my estimation is on the mark.

The last time we played y'all in 2002 (?) we had a mediocre squad.

I seriously wish Jordan W was available, as I wanted both teams with no excuses and at their best.
