Not that at all.
Just losing this way deflated the weekend. That’s all I’m saying.
April 15th. Watch what happens after that point.

CPM said I the radio pregame show TODAY that “these games make a difference in regard to regional and super regional host sites,” so go ahead and spin this arse kicking as nothing...Add to the fact that ND lost two of three, one each to Purdue and Youngstown State and this was a wasted opportunity.

How many midweek games did we lose last year? What was our national seed last year?
Sure they matter, but not as much as getting Slaughter going matters. Or finding your Zach Watson on the bench. Or finding out that maybe Clay Moffitt can contribute in the bullpen

This is like 2 wins.
Cry all you want guys, but if I’m Texas, I feel like I won this series.

Take it up with CPM, HE’S the one that said it, not me. But you should really get your resume ready, there will be plenty job openings at the end of the season. Since you’re a lot brighter than CPM, you should have a real good shot.

It's coach speak. His actions speak louder than his words. He's always coached to win in May and June. Not February. I don't think anyone would disagree with that statement. In fact it's a common complaint on this board that he doesn't roll out his best lineup from day 1. Skip used to do the same thing. Baseball is a marathon not a sprint. No one goes out there trying to win 60+ games, you just need to win the last one. I swear some of you act like you want the team to peak in March. If CPM hadn't been getting his teams to peak at the right time for the last decade he would've been fired a long time ago. That's arguably his greatest strength as a coach. Was this your first time listening to a coach's interview? Have you watched CPM's teams for the last decade? Have you watched Skip's teams before him? This isn't football. And obviously the games matter. They matter to anyone with the competitive nature necessary to play college sports so he's not going to go on air saying he doesn't care if they win or lose. But they'd no doubt rather win the CWS than beat Notre Dame and Texas in February. I don't know how I can spell it out any more clearly than that. If you still don't understand then watch more baseball and maybe eventually you'll get it

As a Longhorn fan, I'll tell you this: 100% of the fans on our side would've traded winning Friday and Saturday than winning 11-1 on Sunday. Sure, 11-1 was a nice response, and certainly gives us a positive takeaway rather than being swept or winning a game off some fluke, but still, I'd always rather have Ws outweigh Ls in a series, regardless of scores.
Very entertaining series nonetheless. This Texas team has 21 new players, so hopefully that explains some of the tightness in the first inning meltdown on Friday. Both teams definitely have to work on pitching and defense moving forward, but damn were there a lot of quality hacks from both lineups.
Best of luck to y'all the rest of this season. I'm pretty sure, per usual, y'all will have it figured out from mid-April on toward another quest for a national seed. So be sure to kick some aggy arse for us
