Television Contract Provisions

When is the current TV contract set to expire? It dissapoints me that nobody at LSU thought to include a provision that would allow one SEC night game at home a year.
No way it would have been that difficult to get that into the contract. Was Shatner not available to negotiate for us? Damn.

I think it is 2017 or maybe 2024. Could be wrong on both of these.

Its going to have to be renegotiated with the conference expansion.
However, don't expect much to change.

you have to put into perspective if they do more night games it means going up against ABC's primetime game.

6 years is a long time
I could see ESPN, ESPN2, & ESPNU airing all SEC games

Who is the contact at LSU who would be in charge of negotiatiating that? Herb Vincent? Alleva? I would like to hear from Alleva or Vincent about if the they even went to CBS this year and requested that they pass on the Auburn game and/or tried to facilitate a deal with ESPN to get it on at night.
Again, would be nice to know. Maybe irrelevant, but still would be nice to know.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but none of these guys gives a shiny shite about tradition. All they care about is $$$. TV contracts = money.

CBS is changing its logo to this....

Alleva doesn't care, but I'd be willing to bet Herb does.

Dude even if Alleva was able to get that in a contract, it wouldnt work
LSU is a part of the SEC, what the SEC schedules, goes
Therefore it would be impossible to negotiate one "night game" it doesnt work like that
If we get a night game Florida, Bama, Auburn, Georgia, et would all want night games

This.
There is no "pointman" for the contract negotiations at LSU because LSU doesn't negotiate the contract.

Who actually makes the game time decision? I'm assuming it's the Athletic Department or some entity at LSU.
Imagine this: Let's just say the LSU-Alabama game was in BR this year and they were ranked #1 and #2. What if LSU told CBS it's a 7:30 kickoff.... take it or leave it. Hmmmm.....

CBS or ESPN.
If neither of those two entities, then the school.

It is not LSU's option you tard. LSU is an SEC member. The SEC does the TV deals.

People are so damn naiive! It's called a CONTRACT people. It can't be broken or legal action will ensue! The SEC won't allow it. The university will not listen to a bunch of fans when it means possibly forfeiting large sums of money and sanctions from the conference. This thread is useless.

You think wrong.
LSU, as a member of the SEC, is bound by the contracts entered into by the SEC with CBS and ESPN.

The NCAA and the schools sold their souls for the TV money. It is not about the local fans, etc., it is about filling a time slot for the tv clowns.

I wouldn't think it'd be too hard to guarantee at least 1 night game!

Anyone know the last time lsu went through a season with zero night games?
