Lack of enforcing targeting rule has surely been discussed already. Sorry for Germans. My brother and I re-watched the taped LSU game last night. He is a remote control wizard! We captured several targeting no-calls by Texas. Is this the new norm? I'm o.k. with it as long as they are consistent and they were consistent Sat. night. NO TARGETINGH CALLS ALL GAME. Never did like the targeting rule to begin with unless it was blatantly obvious (whatever that means in 2019....). I think it's still in the rule book. What sayeth the RANT? Curious what we can expect moving forward in 2019. These were SEC refs as well.

I wouldn’t count on it staying that way, but I’d be okay if it did.

A couple of defenseless LSU receivers for sure. One in the endzone could've been called.
It was SEC officials.
We'll see what happens.
Maybe they are trying to let the booth catch it first.

They have changed what constitutes targeting this year compared to last year. I think we'll see some throughout the year if they're malicious, late, or out of bounds but nothing like last year.

Yes one of the Texas dB got away with a targeting in the end zone when Justin Jefferson caught a td pass I thought.

Yes and Elaire got blown up on a swing pass in which he was "defenseless" which was 100 times worse than what Devin White got ejected for last year v. Mississippi State

If player safety is going to be the focus, as it should be, then targeting penalties are here to stay.

However.... one thing that NEEDS to be done is to split this penalty into two possibilities, just like running into/ roughing the kicker.

If the targeting was malicious, then it's 15 yds and possible ejection. If it's purely accidental or unavoidable, then it should be a 5 yd penalty. Too many games are decided on bullshite, non malicious hits that couldn't have been prevented. It's football. Sometimes people will get hit hard.

They must have replaced it with the gay arse blindsided block rule which is even worse.

Those were SEC refs.

ALL rules are subjective and dependent upon who is playing.

Had LSU DBs made those same hits, I can safely predict they would have been thrown out 11/10 times, or at least gone through a replay.

You can safely assume that target calls will show up again in the second half of the LSU game before we play Bama.
