Takes on the situation from a few sports media personalities

As always, their takes are what they are, but these are some guys I tune into when I can. I think they're pretty reasonable people and IMO, what they say holds merit. I just wanted to put it out there:
Colin Cowherd: FWIW, usually very pro player and my guess would've been he supported JD, but his take was
It's "weird" of JD to care about this.
"You're worried about your college number, who cares".
College is over, time to move on.
Someone in his circle needs to step in and end this.
A lot of young QBs surround themselves with the wrong people.
Bad look for JD when he needs to get it right in year 3.
Nick Wright: well spoken guy for the most part, not a bad show, can't stand his LeBron v. MJ takes
Thinks it's fine if Burrow's number is off limits and JD's isn't... Burrow reached a higher threshold (I've really been looking for someone to acknowledge that).
Doesn't think this distracts JD.
Questioned financial implications of letting #5 go somewhere else.
Said his college career isn't something "he owns" and LSU can use his NIL for promoting.
A lot of guys on CFB teams and only so many numbers
Eric Mangini: Team guy, former NFL HC, no BS kind of guy - pretty expected take
"So disappointed. If this is what you're thinking about, it's a problem".
Haven't retired any recent numbers.
Have a process on how they do it, he's not even eligible.
Why do you care?
0 relevance
Chris Broussard: NBA guy, I usually like the guy's takes and his presence on the show. He seems like a realist
Disappointed but likes JD a lot.
He shouldn't be paying attention to this.
If LSU denied a player #9, then why are they allowing players to have #5?
Expects JDs # to be retired.
Said a few things about LSU's process that I didn't know (you have to wait 5 years AND all numbers retired after 2007 are recirculated).
RGIII: don't know much about his ideology, but happened across his take, which I think holds weight being a former Heisman winning QB.
It's a "colossal mistake" for 3 reasons:
1). Jersey retirements are an honor- not to be demanded or involve strong arming
2). Puts him in direct odds with LSU fan base
3). He and his current team are going into a critical year and his head is in the wrong place.
