Why don't we try and see what we can get, before ruling it out and staying with PM

Maybe we have and maybe we haven't. Who knows what the higher ups are doing or thinking?

You don't let a coach go until you have another one wanting to come

This sounds like the flawless idea we had with the football team last fall.

I'm sure there are much better coaches who would love to come here. PM isn't getting it done

I'll just come out and say it...South Louisiana has some drawbacks. The sport is increasing in popularity and it's being proven you don't have to coach in California or the SEC to win a title. With power programs sprouting up in Virginia, Oregon, Louisville, and maybe even the Big Ten, the ability to lure ANY big name coach has lessened to an extent.

If a damn good coaching is at a program near his home or alma mater, why would he leave? Some coaches prefer to build a program and leave legacy rather than take over an existing power.

I'm not saying PM is the answer. I'm just saying the ignorance on this board regarding coaches is unreal, whether it involves X's and O's or replacements.

You have a very good point
There are lots of great baseball schools around the country
That will make it harder to find a coach but we have to try. Lots of coaches don't want to go to an existing powerhouse. If PM stays we will need a coach who wants to start from the bottom up !!! Love your post makes sense unlike many ranters on this board.

I don't think Paul is a bad coach, but he has his flaws. His similarities with Les are coming to the forefront more and more. I also don't think he can leave the program in as bad of a state as it was before he got here.

If this team had ever recently heated up in the CWS the way it did in '09, he would be praised. The way the game has popularized, I don't think any program will equal 5 titles in 10 years again.

With that said, a trend of not winning on a big stage is emerging, and when he has not always put the team in the best position to win, it's time to ask some questions.
