Tailgating in Knoxville

Hey...four tiger fans in NC driving to Knoxville for UT game. Any tips on where to tailgate??? Looking at parking passes on stubhub...or maybe a restaurant where purple and gold folks gather. Thanks!!!

The campus is in downtown. It’s a weird place to tailgate. They do it in parking lots and parking garages. There are few open spaces to tailgate that aren’t taken by a local tailgate company called Tailgate Tennessee. Calhoun’s on the river is where lots of LSU fans gather.

I last went there several years ago and the whole thing didn't lend itself to tailgating too well. there were some folks set up on a parking garage that was pretty cool, and also a lot on boats that was just fascinating. I find that as a visiting fan, it is better just to walk and enjoy the day....

Friends of mine that are UT alums tailgate in a parking garage on campus. Their tailgate scene is on the Tennessee River and the strip they have.

ditto. it was funny seeing how creative lsu fans had to get to tailgate up there. tenn fans just pull up in the parking garage and hang. honestly, i thought that was kind of lame
however, the river scene is unique and of course the visitors hang at calhoun's which is cool. i plan to eat at market square and then walk over to calhoun's. if tenn loses to mizz, that place is going to be dead for lsu

Market square is one of my favorite places downtown. Lots of great restaurants and bars!

The fans there were very welcoming and friendly when we went. It was 6 years ago and we were the best team in the country. They seemed to be resigned to their fate and many thanked us for coming. The LSU band actually played Rocky Top near the end of the game and most of the LSU fans sang it loudly. Lots of fun during that regular season.
