re: Tailgating Etiquette

One of the big problems is that the campus as a whole generates more garbage than the university has cans for. We generally have 5 or 6 cans for our tailgate, and they generally fill up just before the game. When we come back to party, there is no where to throw trash. We've brought bags with us and changed them out before, but the bags stacked up against the tree looks pretty trashy as well.
FWIW, the campus is back to beautiful by 10am the next morning thanks to the prisoners that LSU brings in to clean up.

i still don't quite understand the idea of tailgating just to tailgate, not to go to the game.
i don't understand why people go fishing, and sometimes never catch anything, or go hunting and never kill.
it's about just being there......try one time to get to LSU before the sun rises, awesome feeling.
never had tickets don't plan on getting them.

I agree. I go into the stadium most games, but the times I stayed outside and kept partying and just soaking in the atmosphere were some of the most fun.

Just so you and BT know, I was born and raised in B.R. and have two degrees from LSU. So both of you can STFU. It's obvious neither of you have a degree from LSU.
Only thing thats obvious here is that you are jerkoff.
BTW, MOJO was being sarcastic you dumb shite... maybe you should ask for your money back on those two degrees.

Anyone that uses the abbreviations STFU in a message board argument doesn't have two degrees.

Now I am not an LSU fan (neutral), but I agree. I enjoy tailgating for the atmosphere.

as I get older it becomes less important for me to actually go into the game.
I love tailgating, breaking balls, and entertaining folks.
Ive been going to LSU home games for 20 yrs now.
Ive been to almost evry SEC stadium several times each... I just love the atmosphere.

Where things get messed up is on the OOC games. Alot of people dont show up as they do for other bigger games, so generaly speaking all across campus there would be spots open that for the most part are not opened.
I think thats what happend to us last yr one time b/c we didnt set up for tulane.
I know I am late here, but you mean to tell me you call bullshite on people who show up at noon, but you don't even go to games and still try to claim that a particular spot is "yours"? You just don't get it do you?
"Oh yeah, we are 50 strong, and pay money so we have a right to show up and claim this spot for whichever games we choose."

OK so if I can play tailgate etiquette philosopher for a second...
I seriously doubt the tailgating procedure has changed in a very long time, i.e. the same two opinions of "etiquette" have been held by many people over a long period of time: whether a spot may be claimed through experience and/or numbers, or if it's up for grabs at all times.
That being said, the people who claim their spots because they have been there for 4,5, 10, 15 or more years: how did you first acquire your spot? Did you wait for another long-time tailgate group to give it to you? Did you just happen upon a free spot that no one ever used? Did you just take a free spot not caring if it was the usual spot of another tailgating group?
My point is this: No matter how long you have been in one spot, at some point you had to have "taken" it, disregarding those who may or may not have been there before. Therefore, you once were the spot stealer, unless, in some rare case, some spot has been passed on generation to generation since the beginning of LSU tailgating, in which case we already probably know you and won't ever think to take said spot.
Otherwise, you gotta deal with the week in week out search for a spot. But you already know this (BT), or else you wouldn't have preset ideas of what to do in the case of someone taking "your" spot. It's your own game to play every Saturday. Deal with it like a Tiger would.
Damn what the hell am I talking about...

That isn't the proper analogy in my opinion. Tailgating only is like going to a fishing camp and staying at the dock. It is like going hunting and never getting in the stand.
I love tailgating (just look at my signature), but I am there for the game. Tailgating helps to pass the time before my Tigers take the field. Hence the expression, "Pass a good time".

That is how I do it. Just cook back at the camp.

actually for a quick history lesson where we tailgate got cut by 2/3's about 3-4 yrs ago.... LSU decided to start using those yellow ropes and doing some landscaping around some bigger trees around campus... so a 100x100 spot shrunk to a 15x15... so im pretty sure we didnt take anyone else's place.
