Does anyone else think that this is still a problem. Even with the solid play by the defense there was still several missed tackles in which our defenders tried to lower a shoulder into a ball carrier instead of wrapping up and tackling properly. This has been a problem all season. If they can work on this the defense will be much better!

Every team at every level has missed tackles. Not going to bitch about the D this year.

I only recall three instances of poor tackling in the entire game.

LSU's D did really well overall, but there were a couple of drives in the second half where AU started gashing the D for significant yardage on running plays. Some of it was good blocking on AU's part, and/or LSU's defenders not quite being in good position, but it did seem a few runs got extra yardage after contact, especially off the left side per my memory of it. I think it definitely should be addressed by the team and hopefully is, but at the same time, the defense really did play a solid game-- the secondary did well, in particular.

From what I have seen this year watching other games around the conference I would put out secondary out there against anybody. Eugene and Claiborne, our backup CB's, could start at CB for anybody in the conference.

Defensive Points Allowed last 4 games

26
13
13
10

Keeping in mind the mistakes that we made against Mississippi State that gifted them points and the TD drive given up by the 2nd team defense and those numbers look even better.

We're peaking at exactly the right time

Seems like you see tons of this if you watch college football just about any Saturday. I've gotta say Bama is one of the few teams that doesn't seem to have this problem. On the other hand, we looked pretty good against Auburn, probably the best we've looked all year in that category.

Take away that first game AT Washington and if we just had an AVG offense, this defense would be top 5...no doubt in my mind.
