I love how people keep bringing size into these discussions. T-Bob is listed bigger than the guy he replaced last year.

yeah I've been saying that since before the season started. it's never really been the size I was concerned with, it was the inexperience. we broke Helms in a bit at G before he took over at C. and before him Wilkerson at least had a 5th yr sr. QB to break in under. these guys (PJ and T-Bob) hadn't played at all and were basically up there with a 1st yr starter. hopefully the battery will improve dramatically.

"TBob was the main problem with the O Line"

What planet were you on last year?

ETA: can't believe 68 gets mostly a free pass in this thread. I left his name out on purpose because I really hate to bash.

The main problem with the Oline last year was the guards and 2 young centers.

I'm guessing T-Bobs last day at center was against Penn State. Daddy lashed out at Miles over the Ole Miss debacle and bashed Miles and the coaching staff for weeks on end.
T-Bob was the main problem with the O-line

Wrong-He did not play against PSU.
Right-Bobby the wino exhibited his unproffesionalism expertly.
Wrong-Center play was no worse than guard play.

T-Bob to improve?

of course he will...question is, how much?

I posted on here last year just before the opener and stated that Hebert, Dworaczyk and Lonergan were, besides the developement of JJ, the most important variable to success in '09. I was roundly ripped by the spell police and mutts who were obsessing over how many 65yd touchdown runs Shep was going to have by game three. Even tho we haven't even gotten to Spring practice I can tell you that things have not changed. We pretty much know what we will get from Barksdale and Blackwell and hopefully Hebert, Dworaczyk and Lonergan have all gotten stronger and smarter. now the most important variables for success in '10 are named Lowe..Hagans..Hurst..Shaw..Williford..and Faulk. football is a very simple game (unless Gary Crowton is involved) and we will go only as far as our offensive line can take us.

Well reasoned, and I hope for all of our sakes you're right!

That 1999 offensive line was pretty bad. They had our QB's running for their lives.

The main issue was a change in blocking schemes, an o-line coach who could not teach it properly, and an OC that could not decide on a philosophy

What was the blocking scheme changed to? Zone blocking?

Also, has Stud been able to teach any type of blocking scheme during his time at LSU? I thought the 2007 and even the 2008 o-line was good enough.

Rivals is where I read it. I'm sure it will start circulating to some free sites soon.

Miles is getting fricking serious. He's in a bad mood. He's not playing anymore. He's not taking any more shite. He's not grab assing no mo'. He means business. I like it.

there's an interesting distinction between Lonergan and T-Bob.

Lonergan was not a center in hs and the coaches moved him there when he got to LSU. He might be the better o-lineman, but he needed to improve his calls at the line and his understanding of a blocking scheme. He also had difficulty with the shotgun snaps last fall.

T-bob has been a center for a while now and is/was more polished at that particular position on the o-line. His knee injury definetly set him back last year.

It should be an interesting year at that position.

Not yet but I like what I've been hearing about Miles and his opinions or views about changes that need to be made.

Miles Mania is ready to become a force of nature again.

also, does anyone think that Williford could start at guard this year. Miles seems to be really high on him. I know that Blackwell and Hurst were the early favorites to start at guard, and that both would be an upgrade from what we had last year, but does Wiliford have a legit chance of starting?
