I ask this with zero intent of downplaying driving under the influence, but can anyone explain to me the difference between drinking and driving OR texting and driving ?

I would guess drinking has led to significantly more deaths, even when adjusted for the period of time where texting has been commonplace...in addition, assuming a 30 minute drive home, if you're drunk, you're drunk for the entire 30 minutes vs. the few minutes you're texting. Although I don't advocate either...

all i know is texting/posting on TD while you're driving drunk is a very bad idea
