The other massive mistake made by JJ is why in the hell was he falling on the ball on the missed snap.

Don't forget that JJ missed the ball because he wasn't lined up behind the center. he was in the gap

T-Bob would not have been flagged because the game was over before he threw his helmet down. Look at all of the Tenn. players who ran from the sideline onto the field with their helmets off right as he is throwing his down. Also, how can anyone ask him to contain his emotions when he sees his team lose because of bad play calling and his snap at center. I was in my living room and I kicked the couch!
I don't question why T-Bob took off and spiked his helmet - that's clear to me: he thought the Tigers had lost. I thought the same and I was pissed - and I'm not a player who is much, much, much more invested in the outcome of the game than those of us who are fans. He was angry and I get it. Players make mistakes.

My observation is we're lucky he didn't get flagged for it. There's a big difference in just taking off your helmet when a game-ending play happens (see Bama's Cody last year), which sometimes gets called; running onto the field from the sidelines without a helmet as a game that is in hand winds down, which never gets called; and slamming your helmet to the ground at the end of a play, which ALWAYS gets called.

I'll watch it again, but I'm pretty sure it was before the whistle. And I get that the refs weren't looking too hard, as they likely thought the game was over. My question remains, HAD it been called, what would the outcome have been? Is it always a dead ball foul? If not - and it was called during the play - we've got offsetting peanlties with no time left on the clock - would we have gotten another play or not? If it was called as a dead ball foul, we'd have gotten the ball at the 15 1/2, making the miracle that followed much harder to pull off.

If T-Bob could have been called for a penalty for throwing his helmet then Tennessee could have been called for a penalty for having their entire team and staff on the field celebrating. Their cheerleaders were out there waving a flag near mid-field. The game was over when T-Bob threw his helmet; however, he should be told to control himself.

T-bob threw his helmet b/c he was mad (rightly so). having said that he needs to control himself better b/c he could have cost us.

the play was already over. and thankfully, there are players like him on the team with enough sense to realize what is going on and was so pissed when his head coach didn't. Anyone that puts that much effort into a game would feel the same.

T-Bob is lucky he didn't get a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for spiking his helmet while the play was still live. Not sure how that would have been adjudicated - offsetting penalties? Would there have still been another play?

Technically I don't think there's any way he could get a penalty since the game had ended and the ref's (at least all but the one that saw the 13 man penalty) didn't know the game wasn't over. Same way a player couldn't get a penalty for throwing a helmet during warm-ups.
