With the way the womens game is played I think its never a smart move to foul an opposing player unless it is to prevent an easy layup, and even then I think its dicey.
I say this because typically in the mens game you are smart to foul to prevent easy 10-12 footers. In the womens game though they are liable to miss just about any shot, including a lot of the layups we are seeing in tonights game. That being said, the women make their free throws so giving them a shot on the line really doesn't make sense.
Just spitballing here.
