the two others look to have nfl ability (with mallett being a lock for a first round pick this season).

i'm playing wait and see on newton, as i think he may be the most dangerous guy we face.

mallett is whatever to me. he'll make some plays but put his team in horrible position by doing something utterly stupid. he sucks against any defense worth it's salt and pads his stats against weak competition. he's also a punk arse bitch.

Based on the way he uses his top recruits? I ike what he's done with Patrick Peterson, Drake Nevis, Randle, Ridley, our revamped and much improved offensive line and all the other positives. We have 2 QBs and a WR who aren't developing like we'd hope. That's it. We had Darron Thomas committed, but everyone in Louisiana complained that we offered D.C. Jefferson instead of JJ. So Miles offered JJ who committed and scared off the other 2. Damn Miles for listening to the fans.

He made a bad decision (in my mind at least) not going with Jacob Karam over Chris Garrett, and we lost Z Lee to the draft. Z Lee wouldn't be a world beater this year, but he could win us a championship next year. We just got screwed there. Now Les is trying to pull the best Juco QB in the country who had the Georgia job won, who can come in and contribute next year.

i don't know if we have the top defense in the sec. bama and us are neck and neck. like i said let's see how we do against the better offenses in this league before saying that.

i'm pretty sure we've played at least 3 offenses better than bama's best foe.

i am referring to the 90-120 or whatever ranked offense though that is full of four and five stars. having guys like jarvis landry and kenny hilliard won't be worth a damn if les continues to run the offense the way he currently is.

which is why we need a new OC...

Les Miles is now damaged goods. There is no way around it. He has shown a profound propensity for stupidity, first before the fanbase and now before the national media. This is a repeating theme.

If LSU loses three or more games this season, Miles needs to be fired...end of story. He will never regain the trust of this fanbase, if he ever had it to begin with. He is done, he knows, the players know it and about 80% of the fanbase knows it.

Les Miles, is who he is. You cannot clean a turd, you cannot turn a whore into a virgin. Les Miles is not a D1 head coach. The perfect storm took place in 2007 of talent, luck and happenstance and LSU became the first two loss team to win the BCS. This scenario will never happen again and LSU will never sniff a shot at the national title as long as Miles is the coach.

Do I support Les Miles? No. Will I ever support Les Miles? Only if by support you mean support him packing his bags and getting out of Baton Rouge.

first you obv do all possible to keep FW, but I'd counter that it's not worth bringing in all this talent when LM is hamstringing the team constantly.

Fair enough. I think that's short sighted, but I'm of the opinion that a lot of this has to do with Crowton and the lack of quality talent in 08/09.

i believe these problems stem from miles and they will always be there no matter who the oc is. crowton isn't great, i agree, but he is a scapegoat imo. miles has was looked clueless against ole miss last year and he did the same vs. UT. we will always have these issues with miles as hc. jmo.

Four turnover caused the two point spread especially the fumble by D. Peterson in the redzone which took away at least 3 points. Also, Ridley is a good receiver for a running back, but I still don't know the wisdom behind the wheel route to him in the endzone. Again, you need a guy who can fight for the ball if the ball is a little off target. We threw the ball 23 times with Lee in a part-time roll. I like where we are if he continues to play at this level on average.

Chicken is right.

I believe Aleva and Miles did not fire Crowton because of the pay out, they were too cheap to let him go. Aleva is part of this problem as is Miles mis-guided loyality.

fair enough.

i don't think we are going to change each other's minds.

the clock management was bungled. no argument from me there. i said earlier in the thread i remain undecided on miles, but firing him could have very grave consequences.

Support for Les Miles
I've got to admit, I like Les Miles. The guy has an amazing record, he recruits like almost no one else, I like his personality and passion, and in the past he's shown a willingness to eradicate the dead wood (Co-DCs) and bring in someone good (Chavis). Of course, I'll do a 180 if he doesn't fire Crowton this year and bring in an incredibly good OC in his place.

I think a lot of Tigers fans are starting to get a little out of control with their desire to get rid of Les Miles.

I don't think Miles should go first. I do think Gary Crowton needs to leave yesterday. If that doesn't solve our problem then Miles needs to be the next to rent a U-Haul.

ill take the 56-15, NC and SEC titles all with his buffoonery and clock mismanagement. I know most the people on here think any knucklehead can come in and do better (b/c miles is any knucklehead, har-har-har) but thats just pure speculation. oh man, he's an idiot but how is UGA looking right about now. would we rather have richt? he's done great and now appears to truelly be running his program into the ground. but miles is an idiot, so 5-0 with this moron is completely unacceptable. we all know ANY HC would jump at the chance to be the LSU HC. John Gruden, come on down

People don't generally look around and consider the implications of what they suggest. Short term memory or something.

But you are exactly right. Any old jackass cannot accomplish what Les has. I'm sorry, it's just not that simple. Was there some luck involved along the way? Surely.... but same with everyone else.

He held on to Crowton for just this reason. He bought or thought he might buy himself one more year knowing that he could fire Crowton after this season. If he lets him go last year, Miles is definitly a gone pecan. But, maybe, just maybe, ( I personally hope not ), he may get one more year if he dumps Crowton after this season.
i've been saying this since last year...
