so you think sugar bowl officials showed up at an impromptu players only pitch and catch session ?

No, my point is that, even while some of the coaches are out of town, not all of them are.

And even if all of the coaches are out of town it doesn't mean our guys don't practice. It was a two-point statement.

now i do know the sugar bowl committee is getting a LOT of pressure as we speak from the state of louisiana to invite LSU since the state has been supplimenting the game for the past few years ... they'd rather see the $4.5 million payout stay here than go back to arkansas .. but it ain't happenin' .. the sugar would lose all credibility and with the cotton bowl and chick fil a bowl breathing down the BCS' neck to be a part of the equation, the sugar can ill afford to buck the BCS system ..

I'm pretty sure the bowl payouts all go to the conference and then get divided up (proportionally) to the schools.

It doesn't mean that all of that money will go to Arkansas. A bigger chunk might but the conference divvies that up pretty well so that I don't worry about bowl payouts that much. I just want as many SEC teams in bowls as possible.

Makes sense to pick LSU over Arkansas.

Same record (doesn't matter that we lost head to head)

It boils down to money/TV ratings.

We have this highest TVQ rating out of any college program.

We are a TV ratings bonananza this year thanks to LES Miles et al

Not to mention it's about creating a great "made for TV" event among the eligible teams they have to choose from.

And they know we won't blow any team out, always a competetive game.

Slim possibility it could still happen. IF OU loses to Neb this weekend, LSU prob moves up a spot or 2 in BCS. Sugar would then decide btwn a BCS #7 Arky or BCS #8 LSU......

it could still happen. Remeber 2007 Kansas got thumped by Mizzou, and still got taken by a BCS bowl even though Kansas was ranked 8th in the BCS and Mizzou 6th

Exactly what I was thinking. Everyone slammed the BCS for that, but the Orange Bowl had the right to select who they wanted. I don't think it's likely, but the Sugar Bowl has every right to take us over Arky.

the fact LSU didnt even give us the option of selection the sugar bowl in our bowl package leaves me with little hope that we will be playing there

not to rain on your parade, but students don't necessarily get the same selection of tickets as say the TAF. All BCS Bowls were available plus another 10 or so.

Could you all please pass the purple and gold Kool-Aid this way? You all are right about the corruption in football. Hell I think all of America is corrupt as far as that goes. The SEC representative team stays in the Riverfront Hilton in New Orleans and right across from Harrah's Hotel and Casino. They get it comped. Interesting huh?

Let me get this straight. Despite these things holding true:

-Arkansas is ahead of LSU in every poll

-Arkansas is ranked higher in the SEC

-Arkansas is ranked higher in the BCS

-Arkansas just beat LSU

-Arkansas fans would need more hotel rooms and spend more money that would stay out-of-state otherwise

-The reps of the Sugar Bowl stated at War Memorial that the winner of the LSU-Arkansas game would receive the invite

Despite all of that, some of you think LSU will leap Arkansas and land in the Sugar? Really? Ok.

The Hogs will have to guarantee the purchase of the tickets to the Sugar Bowl or they wont be invited. The last trip they made to anything close was the Cap One Bowl and I will never forget the cameras panning the empty stadium.

Not what I heard. I understand they have already ordered Red and White for decorations to the pre party. Said all hell would break loose if LSU was chosen.
