Strictly a talking point: How much would losing Aranda hurt O?

It would have to be a huge blow to him and his tenure at LSU, right? Not saying I want O gone and I'm not saying I want him to stay. Strictly talking point.
It doesn't look good at all to possibly be without both coordinators within your first year after proclaiming you will have "the best".
Only positive for O's sake would be that A&M would have to pay for Aranda.

The shock of it happening isn't as big of a deal as not having Aranda here. I don't trust O or the admin to make a competent hire afterwards

Worst thing that could happen for O.

“Hire the best coordinators”
Lose both after year 1.

As long as Alleva is around O has nothing to worry about.
Losing Aranda IMO should be the point where we boot Alleva, because if it happens I wouldn't be shocked if Joe goes the "hot head" route like he did with Herman and refuse to negotiate.

It's a fatal blow. Honestly, Aranda was probably only around for a year or two more. But since O's value is almost entirely tied to having top tier coordinatord, losing one of..if not the top DC in the country is catastrophic.

That should say it all.

If you had a tag team wrestling duo and lost the biggest most powerful guy and were left with a small skinny douche bag, would that hurt?

3 wins next year

It would be the death nail for O.

It just shows how stupid it is to hire a CEO type head coach. The model of underpaid recruting HC, best offensive coordinator, and best defensive coordinator is great in theory, but what happens when the coordinators aren't happy working for a buffoon? See LSU Ed O experiment.
You need to hire a guru of one side of the ball, have the OC/DC (depending on the expertise of the HC) be a puppet, and then pour money for a name brand coordinator on the other side of the ball.
How often are you going to be concerned with who Saban's DC is or who Meyer's OC is?

O is a weak head coach due to his lack of knowledge on both sides of the ball. He has to watch old movies to get ideas on offensive philosophy and would be the same on D, which he is a position guru not a scheme tech. From the start it is known he is nothing without top flight assistants and he is screwing with them to satisfy his own ego.

This is a mind blowing question that I've never even considered but so true when you think about it. I'm now more annoyed.

It’d be the equivalent of the US getting involved with the World Wars armed only with plastic spoons

Amen, brother.
I've said repeatedly that this "figurehead HC with elite coordinators" is a house of cards that will tumble down sooner rather than later.
It's not a system, it's Alleva's desperate spin after he fricked up the HC hire.
I've been a Los Angeles Rams fan all my life and we finally got a HC hire right.
Under Sean McVay, the Rams have gone from the worst offense in the NFL to the best the very next season--with McVay's offense and with him calling the plays.
Does anyone give a shite who the Rams' offensive coordinator is? It doesn't matter--you get an apprentice for a placeholder.
It may be a cliche but you need a head coach who can lock.down.one.side.of.the.ball.
