This is something the committee takes into consideration heavily when choosing between teams. LSU ranks 6th and USC ranks 40th in SOS. If LSU wins out it doesn’t matter what USC does we’re getting in over them. Just go take a look at their schedule up to this point. It’s fricking pathetic. The only way USC gets in is if we lose. For example, TCU ranks 9th in SOS and everyone assumes if they lose a game they’re out of the playoffs(I agree). What makes TCU any different than USC if they lost a game?

I think the bigger threat will be from Ohio State if the lose a tight one to Michigan. “Loser of that game is out” is NOT a fore gone conclusion.

A 1 loss non Big Ten Champion isn’t getting in over a 2 loss SEC Champion. We need Ohio St. to win out.

I feel bad for TCU…they play a pretty tough schedule and if they slip up once they are done…it’s not like they are playing in the horrible ACC and pac 12. They should get a little more respect

Conference championship would be one reason if TCU loses the championship game. 1 loss, conference champion USC would get in over TCU.

USC should be penalized until after the conference championship should they win. They didn't play the #2 (Oregon) or #3 (Washington) teams in their conference and lost to the #4 team (Utah).

That said, if they beat Notre Dame and Oregon in the Championship, that argument loses weight.

If UW beats Washington State and Oregon State upsets Oregon, wouldn’t that put Washington in the championship game? They would have tiebreaker over Oregon.

You're right. Guess I was overlooking Oregon St upsetting Oregon.
