I am guilty as well-I seem to forget the "lean years" back in the Archer-Hallman-Dinardo periods. We as LSU fans have been blessed to see 2 national championships in our life time. Plenty of great programs fall down on hard times after reaching the pinnicle-Bama, Notre Dame, USC, Michigan,Penn State, Miami to name a few. It will happen to Florida and LSU again-but for now, lets enjoy the ride and if it is another 40 plus years before the football team wins another....be fortunate for the 2 crowns we did witness because there are plenty of programs out there who has had nothing to cheer about lately!!

No.

What other programs do is none of our concern, and their failures are certainly no excuse for ours.

I don't think anyone here wishes we could give back those crystal footballs, but you win it all and then you move on. You don't dwell on it, you try to repeat.

I'm not saying we shouldn't want to repeat or try to win more-I'm just saying all programs cycle and this has/is the golden age of Tiger football. Its history and its not my wish.

I think the whole drama about whether LSU is slipping is a good thing. These people that are ranting want the team to shut them up. And i personally hope that they do, especially tigerjake.

Give it up StarkvilleTiger, the ranters yelling the loudest won't be happy unless we win every game by 100-0, a NC every year!

I'm sorry...did I type something towards you? I'm concerned about the defensive schemes...thats it. The offense and tackling will improve IMO, and we'll continue to get better. My concern is will Chavis adapt to what works, or will he stay in his same comfort zone. For example, P. Peterson is the best cover corner to play at LSU, why would make him play 8-10 yds off of the receiver? Why not let him press the receiver? He would've had atleast 3-4 more pass breakups, instead of tackles if he were allowed to play up on the receiver. Now...How is that being negative?

True. But to piss on where we came from is being greedy and an instant recipe for disaster.

The PAST, should not affect THIS YEARS' goal.
Aim HIGH, then if you miss your goal, you would have still reached great heights.

Aiming lower only assures lower results.

in football, or anything else.

That would be 3 national titles in football for me. So, I have been even more blessed by my Tigers.

Add to that the SEC titles, the other BCS bowl games, the other bowl games, the great season wins, the Top 10 finishes, and everything else that has set LSU up as an elite college football program.

Sorry, but I can't join the "bitch, gripe, and moan feast" that some seem to be enjoying so much. Did last season have subpar results for us...yes. Was the 1st game this season a blow out win...no. Did the season opener put up a few red flags....yes. Was it a win...yes. Are we 1-0...yes. Are we ranked in the Top 10...yes.

Anyone wanting to spend the week crying, feel free to do so. Excuse me if I would rather enjoy the win and the ranking rather than pizzing and moaning, but each to our own.

Have to agree here. You don't have the talent to win it all this year...

Just because i got what I wanted as a fan in a national championship doesn't mean i should now shut up and let things be as they are and settle for mediocrity. I am glad you aren't running this athletic program, because by your explanation, we should take a seat now and let someone else jump in there because we've got a couple of crystal balls.

NEVER SETTLE FOR SECOND BEST! SWEEP THE LEG!

Unfortunately you don't play for the tigers, TB8. Your refusal to settle for being second best is completely meaningless and utterly ridiculous. Maybe we should support our damn fine football team and hope for the best since it is very unlikely that there will be any major coaching changes coming in the short term future.

It's not my refusal...it should be the coaching staff's refusal. Where did i say i don't support the team. Does a coach look at a win and say "we won...sweet! No need to look at film because, well we won and there's nothing to read between the lines here and we are perfect>". Being a "fan" doesn't mean you can only speak if you are spewing superlatives. Many pretend to not see the underlying issues, but they are there. They may get corrected in time. I just don't see them correcting all of that in time to make it out of the West past Alabama.

Agreed. Isn't that the first thing we learn in sports...NO CRYING! I don't care if we win every game by 1 f'n point. The reason we play the game is to win, and we did that....next please ...
