I wondered that as well.
The only thing I could come up with was due to his mysterious wording. He said the warrant was served to either "prove or disprove" Jefferson's role in the fight. I think, and I could be totally wrong, that he'd look for Jefferson's DNA on Lowery's clothes, etc to see if Lowery attacked Jefferson or not.
THAT is a stretch...but I got nothing else as to what the hell they were thinking.

If JJ kicked somebody (which I have no idea if he did or not?) do you really think he kept those shoes? Seriously if he did the kicking then JJ had 50 pairs of shoes a week ago.
