Not to quible with you, but Mallory continued to be a train wreck at New Mexico (or was it NMSU). Their defense tanked with him at DC.
Peveto was a dreadful special teams coach at LSU and our ST improved dramatically once we brought in Joe Rob.
I get your point that the continuity was probably appealing...and to his credit Miles fixed the problem after just one years. Unlike Dinardo, he didn't stick with his mistake and go down in flames with it. That's very much to his credit.
My only point is that second guessing Miles on assistant coaches isn't entirely unreasonable.

It's really just an indication of how far LSU's passing game bottomed out
I'll agree with that, and throw in the running game too.
Hopefully the new pieces, and the young guys on the offensive line, plus a returning starter at QB for the first time in a while, will get LSU headed in the right direction this year.

Wow! Now that is RANT material!.

I'll reserve judgement until it's official. I note that no one...DD, Advocate, NOLA...has printed a whisper about this yet.
Yeah I think that's a good point. I wonder if this is really the hire.
Ensminger just got hired for an administrative postion working for Tubs at Texas Tech. He must have pictures of Tubby and Phat Phil in a compromising position or something...

Anyway I'll believe this when it starts hitting the local papers or recruiting sites.

Not disagreeing with anything you said. Just trying to see CLM's side of it. It's obvious now to most here that neither co-dc were ready for that level of responsibility and they may never be ready. It may not have been obvious at the time, given that we had just come off a season with a dominating defense.
It's CLM's responsibility to judge that though, and he made bad call, bottom line.

The people we interviewed were 1) larry scott from south florida-word is he bombed his interview. Young guy who was high school coach in florida, not much college experience. 2) tim salem-currently special teams n TE at central florida-has been an OC most of his career n more of a QB coach. 3) mike schultz-former TCU n Illinois OC-texas recruiting ties as well as OC experience. 4) randy butler-DE at troy, coached TE at southern miss most of his career. 5) jack peavet-OL texas n n m commerce-texas ties n has been head coach twice. 6) stephen field-RB at Hampton-most of his career as high school coach in florida n time as a GA at miami

I know you are trying to reach the 200,000 post level, but really...everything that enters your mind doesn't have to be posted.

Why not give one of our own a chance? It certainly makes Miles more likeable. We need to at least appear to go after La players...FIRST!

So we are hiring Steve to be the TE coach! This really hurts because LSU has really been doing a good job of using the TE's.... Oh! Wait! Never mind.
Complete waste of a senior year for Dickson!
As far as a QB coach I don't understand why we don't get a guy from a midmajor. Every year you see good QB's at these schools that were never recruited by major schools. Somebody must be developing them.

Those that believe that somehow Gonzales, who has no OC experience whatsoever, is going to be some miraculous panacea for the inept Gary Crowton would be laughable, if not so sad.
Just because he didnt have OC in his title doesnt mean he doesnt have OC experience

Wow TigerRag sounds like you were the RUNT at Central who begged the coach to put you on the kick team. Then watched Ensminger frick all the chicks you wacked off to in your garage.IMO not a bad hire been in the SEC a long time with a proven winner at AU and played the game.

Well. That would make an Ensminger hire even more questionable!

Um......is there anything more credible on this out there?

Oh lord have mercy. It's official, I've become a nega-tiger.
This guy was QB coach at Auburn since 2003. Other than 2004, Jason Campbell's senior year, what in the world makes any of you think this guy would be a good QB coach? And after a fast start his career has been dubious at best since 1998 as an offensive coordinator.
I used to be the kool-aid drinker on this board. Things sure have changed...glad to see you guys can still see the silver lining in anything LSU does.
TE coach isn't very important in the grand scheme of things, but any talk of this guy being QB coach or stealth offensive coordinator just leaves me speechless.
I hope this isn't accurate.

You think this report is accurate? Haven't seen confirmation yet.
Edit: OK looks like there's some confirmation it's Ensminger.
I guess I'll shut up now. He's a Tiger. Good luck to him and hope this works out.

the Clemson job got canned when they hired the Tulane wunderkind Terry Bowden as head coach. He brought Rich R. with him.
