Ty Floyd is going to be a beast out of the bullpen. I love Fontenot but it really wouldn’t surprise me if Floyd is the closer by the end of the year similar to Hess taking the role over Newman late in 2017.

I think Floyd will factor in as the 8th inning guy.

Much like the lineup, I think the bullpen will be overtaken with new guys, outside of Fontenot & maybe Beck

After all three get "sore arms" or injured, who's next

I like what Floyd is going to bring to the team and I could definitely see him taking over the 8th inning but I don’t think anyone is going to take the closer role from Fontenot unless he struggles a lot. And I really don’t see him struggling

I don’t think it will happen either. It’s just a similar situation going into the season to 2017. Solid returning upperclassman closer with a top future Friday night starter freshman also in the bullpen. Newman didn’t really do anything to lose his job in 2017 Hess was just dominant late in that season. Floyd is the type of guy that can do the same things.

ETA: Fontenot is a better pitcher than Newman and if the situation above happens it is a really good thing for the LSU pitching staff. Means they have two legitimate late inning guys.

This was going to be pretty much my exact response to the first part of your post

I think the plan going into the season is going to be get wins on Fridays with Hill going 5-6 innings then Beck then Fontenot each getting you 4-6 outs.

That’s what I hope they do.

May have missed it but are we looking at hilliard as long relief or starter for mid week early on? Who are the young bucks playing in the mid weeks?
