When is CJJ gonna quit playing around and start Quarterman instead of some scrub big guy? What's the point to putting in Epps/Odo for 4 minutes and then putting in Quarterman?

I don't see it happening. He will continue to give a big man a few minutes to see if they can play well. The second they do something stupid Q goes in and they never look back...

I don't think it hurts to play guys early to give them a feel for ingame experience when it doesn't matter (the first few minutes). Might need them in foul trouble games later on and they should have a little feel for being out there with the starters.

It is very important to have a spark off the bench. Kevin McHale didn't start for the vast majority of his career. He wasn't the same kind of spark, but good example.

Its more to balance the team and give LSU something "off the bench". If Q started, LSU would get zero production off the bench.

When Q comes in, most of the time, the other team subs also or shortly thereafter. So, Q is in with other bench players. Yes it would sound better to play all your best, but in basketball it is more about the chemistry of the guys out there. Also, it would push Jarrell to the 4 where he doesn't want to be to begin with. So start JM out on the perimeter where he is comfortable, and as has been mentioned, give a young player some confidence as a starter then let the game flow with your best lineup after that.

This has been done for a long time. No matter who starts, the best 5 finish the game. I like how they are mixing it up. They gave the big 7 footer a shot and saw he wasn't ready. Then they went with Epps after the PG came back. They aren't just settling.

it gives is a spark off the bench. its not like odo is hurting us too bad when ge plays the first 4-5min.
so why not have a fresh quarterman to play the the rest of the first half instead of having to play the entire first half.

Size intimidation against basically all teams except Kentucky and the spark of a 6th man/forcing the other team to adjust to a change. Has worked well so far this season, no reason to change it up IMO.
