I appreciate the feedback on the offensive edition of this post from yesterday so here is the same for defense. I have watched each game all the way through to pinpoint the amount of snaps guys have had "with the 1's" and at what position. I know that PFF tracks snaps played & their snap % but I wanted to strictly see "meaningful snaps" prior to the 2's all flooding in, so here it goes.

Total 1st Team Defensive Snaps: 214

DE:
Jordan Ross - 174 - 81.3% - 63 at LE, 5 at LDT, 3 at RDT, 103 at RDE. - Didn't have a ton of production coming into this year but has proven himself thus far. Looks good against the run and pass. High motor guy.
Princewill Umanmielan - 166 - 77.6% - 93 at LE, 69 at RE, 4 at almost a nickel corner look to blow up screen passes. Another hit in the portal class this year, through 4 weeks, he has given more pass rush than the entire team last year was capable of. 10/10
Dylan Carpenter - 88 - 41.1% - 41 at LE, 6 at LDT, 7 at RDT, 34 at RE - Have been really pleased with the increase in playing time for Carp, worked hard and waited his turn and getting to see the field more now. Always the 1st guy in for either DE for a breather and saw the field on pass downs as a defensive tackle to help combat Marcel's legs against A&M. Had a lot of Umanmielan, Carpenter, Geralds, Ross sets that game and wouldn't be surprised to see that continue.
Lamar Brown - 8 - 3.7% - 7 at LE - Hasn't done a whole lot with his time yet, but has a ton of burst off the line, could see this role grow over the year. Didn't see the field @ Ole Miss but got back in for a couple of quality reps against A&M.
Kolaj Cobbins - 1 - 0.5% - 1 at LE - Hate to see it because I feel like Kolaj always got a ton of love every spring but he is just a little too small to get minutes at DE in the SEC. Carp passed him up on the depth chart and so has Lamar.

DT:
Deuce Geralds - 133 - 62.1% - 97 at LDT, 35 at RDT, 1 at RE - Nothing needed to say other than he is an absolute animal and going to go down as an all time great Tiger. Insane production on the line for a Freshman.
Stephiylan Green - 110 - 51.4% - 1 at LE, 13 at LDT, 93 at RDT, 3 at RE - Has clearly stepped into that role opposite of Deuce, gets a solid push in pass rush, big body guy, kind of reminds me of Guillory with an extra gear.
Malik Blocton - 89 - 41.6% - 2 at LE, 50 at LDT, 36 at RDT, 1 at RE, The Carpenter of the DT room, next man up for both of the starters typically. Good motor and a nice change of pace when Green comes off the field.
Dominick McKinley - 47 - 22.0% - 33 at LDT, 14 at RDT - Another one I just want to see a little bit more out of. He is capable but he seemingly gets tired well before the other guys above him and doesn't generate much rush. Solid run defender though.
Richard Anderson - 23 - 10.7% - 10 at LDT, 13 at RDT - Starting to get brought in the game a little bit more in short yardage and goal line areas to have a big body that can push around the o line a bit. Snaps almost mirrored Dom against A&M, so could be seeing a push for more reps from Anderson.
Shone Washington - 2 - 0.9% - 2 at RE - Brought in for jumbo package to combat direct snaps to RB's & QB sneaks. Still mad at him jumping offsides against Ole Miss.

LB:
TJ Dottery - 189 - 88.3% - I've been super impressed with the way Dottery is able to fly around and be instinctual on this defense. Plays free and has been a playmaker.
Whit Weeks - 178 - 83.2% - This one hurts to type, Whit looked like Whit again. I hope he can recover and we can see him on the field again, it is more fun to watch LSU with the him flying around like a lunatic.
Davhon Keys - 55 - 25.7% - Thank you Davhon for not transferring because of the exact situation we are in now. Davhon had no business being on the bench for hardly any team in the country, genuine starter caliber player and fantastic against the run.
Tylen Singleton - 6 - 2.8% - Glad that he is back healthy and ready to contribute, seemed to have been out the 1st 3 weeks but is back and looked like he was flying around when he got in against A&M.

S: (Including star for the sake of simplification)
Ty Benefield - 214 - 100% - Has been as advertised, stepped up and played the star really well. Hasn't missed a snap all year too.
Tamarcus Cooley - 199 - 93.0% - Also been fun watching Tamarcus improve coming into this year, I think the competition with Thomas in spring & summer helped push him and it has been really fun watching him fly around this year.
Dashawn Spears - 102 - 47.7% - Absolutely gutted for Spears, finally had his time to be a full time guy & was doing fantastic in the role. Hope he is back next year.
Jhase Thomas - 91 - 42.5% - I really wish they would've realized this earlier because my lordy it could've helped in the 2nd quarter against Ole Miss to put Thomas in deep and move benefield and cooley around to play star because everything has went much smoother since Thomas has entered the equation.
CJ Jimcoily - 26 - 12.1% I hope he sticks around and keeps developing because he has talent but the dropoff from Spears to Jimcoily was massive and Ole Miss went right at him.
Faheem Delane - 7 - 3.3% - Got a couple of possessions with the 1's in for Thomas against A&M. Looks solid and think he would do fine in that role, could be a year away from a lot of playing time.

CB:
DJ Pickett - 212 - 99.1% - Would really like to see DJ get up in some guys and let them challenge him a bit. I just don't think it has been something the defense has asked him to do this year. You can tell he gained weight though because he is hitting significantly better than last season.
PJ Woodland - 204 - 95.3% - So fun to watch him come up and make hits, just a bulldog. Not as physically gifted as Pickett but he puts himself in the WR's pocket 90% of the time. Also kicks in to nickel on obvious long passing plays, love seeing him inside.
Ja'Keem Jackson - 27 - 12.6% - Would love to see him back healthy, I like what I've seen of him this year when he comes in on 3rd downs and plays outside.

That's a wrap. Hope to come back with some updated numbers in the future. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to see out of this. This stuff is fun for me so I might as well share it.
