It's even before Bush started manipulating
Being released in 1997, that probably means that the work for it started when H.W. Bush was manipulating the reported news....at which time the news was probably more conservative.
All I was meaning was that the media is going to report what they think the majority of the public want to hear, and since a more liberal (no derogatory conotations intended) was elected president, they assume that a more liberal slant to the news is desired.

compared to what? The media in general has always been liberal or at least left leaning.

There's no rules prohibiting graduate students from entering campus on gamedays.
Never said there was a rule that prohibited them. But obviously you never attempted to park on campus during gameday within a reasonable distance to places that you do research.

I manage an Arena at a University and I had a Monster Truck show where a professor sent me an email stating that he did not agree with us hosting Monster Trucks because he did not see how it educated the students.
I sent him an email back saying that I did not have a Phd and that my job was to entertain and not to teach.

Seriously, are you 11.
No, but you seem to be. See if you can follow me kid;
1.You said that BTR population was declining and that it has a winning football team.(LSU)
2. You also stated that "Other University cities" with bad teams were increasing in population etc...
3. There is NO University cities in LA with a growing population.
4. So these people must be LEAVING BTR and going to cities out of state.
5. You tried to draw a coralation between the the pop.drop of BRT with a winning team and other Univ Cities with poor teams and pop. increase(All with absolutely NO links to facts)
You wanted an explanation as to why.
While I realize you do not live in BTR you do live in a city in LA. My hypothesis is that you are such a giant a-hole, you are making people even in BTR leave the state. See the logic now?

As much as I love LSU football, and as much as I am glad to have a degree from there, it has at best an average academic reputation. You should be glad that professors are disinterested in it. The faculty are working hard on the other part of the university, typically known as the "mission."
Too much stock is placed on the academic reputation of a program. What is more important is what an individual accomplishes at a university. I've know many individuals who went to ivy league schools, rested on their laurels, and didn't accomplish much. You can study the same subject matter at LSU as you can at Harvard. What really matters is having goals and working hard to accomplish them.

Then ride a bike. Or get to campus early, before the parking goes crazy, and leave in the middle of the game when the gettin's good. Any serious graduate student who wants to work on campus on gameday won't let parking issues stop them.
Student parking is in BFE anyway. The place I park for gamedays isn't much further than the place I park at as a student.

this
LSU has everything anyone needs for a good education. Its up to the student.
My wife is an attorney in an office that hires lots of interns. According to her the ones from Ivy League law schools are usually the ones who are less motivated and less willing to do the mundane tasks that interns are expected to do.

Of course BTR metro also has the second fastest declining population in the country.
wrong? louisiana has 3 parishes in the top 100 fastest growing counties in the country, all in the br metro. ascension livingston, and west feliciana all are in the top 100 with over 5000 housing units for the last 2 years.
census estimates
new economic oppurtunities and better jobs are bringing people to the area, but not the city. lsu football doesn't have much of a correlation i'm sure.

My only hope is that the people who make these lame, uneducated posts will actually stop and think about the value of a University independent from big budget athletics, and to suggest that investing in academics can have a major impact on the community. The reason is because the LSU System is currently being faced with massive budget cuts. Whole departments are being closed or broken apart. Faculty are losing jobs, and LSU is losing its ability to compete for high quality researchers. And yet all people seem to care about is where LSU Football is ranked in the BCS.
There is a fatal flaw in your argument. LSU contributes money from athletics to the academic programs. To the extent the professors (or you) believe that LSU is not providing enough resources to academic programs, that has nothing to do with the football program. Indeed, the situation would be worse without the success of the football program.

That is very ignorant. There are plenty of people who care about the school, Baton Rouge and the state. Why is it so terrible that these people also have an escape in the form of LSU football? You only get one life and it's pretty short. Why not spend part of it enjoying the sport of football and the gameday festivities and all that. Sure, we could all spend every waking hour worrying about all of our problems, but who wants to live that way. It's not healthy.

You are aware that a University without research - isn't a University, right? Its just a college. We'd be the LSC Fighting Tigers if you had your way. Brilliant!

How does this refer to surrounding parishes? East Baton Rouge has had a decline in population for two straight years.

because you moron, the "metro area" refers to the entire area around Baton Rouge not just EBR. The metro area is defined as EBR, WBR, Iberville, Ascension, Livingston, East Feliciana, and sometimes Point Coupee. Sort of like Pineville would be considered the Alexandria metro....sorry couldn't type laughing so hard thinking of Alexandria as a metro area
