I know 6 girls on the team personally and their families yet I am hearing completely different things.

I know for a fact that two girls were kicked out practice at a minimum of three times. No Dawson wasn't one of them.

How do people know for a fact if a player skipped classes or did anything of that nature unless you literally had a class with her. I don't think any of our kids are dumb enough to do it, considering most are in very difficult majors.

We heard this same type of story line when Jaquish was a freshman. I got to talk to a senior from last years squad and they confirmed that it never happened and that a lot of the issues the last few years stemmed from parents getting too involved.

Listen you aren't going to get arguments from me about Dawson getting more playing time. I for one would have liked to see it. I think a couple of other players could been used for as well but unless you are on the team or a coach on staff it's impossible to attest with 100% any of the stuff.

I'm just as critical on Beth as well, I don't agree with how a lot of things were handled this season but I don't see everything behind the scenes like she does or see every practice.

I am not dismissing Sanchez poor play at all but I definitely think she is a lot better than what we have seen. Me personally I would have a tighter leash but again I don't know what else went on.

As far as Smith, I would have like to played her more but she got hit up pretty hard this back half the season, once we found out she was going to be leaving for sure, why not start giving Gorsuch the experience? She is the future!

I am not aware of any complaint being filed so I can't argue but no idea.

I'm disappointed as everyone that we lost two talented players but maybe it's for the best, we aren't dying. We add good talent next year, top ten classes the next three years so we have a lot to look forward too.

With some adjustments this offseason offensively this program will be in much better shape.

Lots of agendas here. Some of you claim things and call those facts especially negative stuff. 357, this is about the others as even though I think you're too close, you're not the negative nancy like they are. Just want to let you know that I don't include you in these comments.

I've heard some of the same things, but I tend to not pay attention since most are just rumors. I would love to see proof of Ashlyn claims, but until then, those are rumors in my book.

There are some parents who love to run their mouths too much and the worst couple are parents of starters. They complain about strategy or abilities of the coaches and I know there are several fans/alumni who are sick and tired of those parents blasting the coaches and started staying away from games because of that. One can only listen to hitching for so long before they get tired and start staying away.

But most programs have these people and many of those are very successful. We aren't immune here... go read the other schools' forums and you'll see a lot of the same.

I do not have an agenda either. I respect BT and the job she has done bringing up our program to new levels.

With that said, however, and speaking as a coach myself (not in softball), I have not appreciated how certain players have been handled, notably Corb and Smith. And IMO, it is indefensible. With Dawson, it's a little different because she was a freshman and had yet to really prove herself. Corb and Smith had been leaned on heavily and then in an instant, are never heard from again. This is on the coach.

And I'm telling you, this stuff is getting around out there in the recruiting circles.

I personally have a different style of coaching and could never imagine in my wildest dreams benching Corb and Smith.

Think about it seriously. Corb carries the team the year before and you give her 34 innings? No appearances in the post season. What a reward for her sacrifice! Smith, pitches 100 very strong innings with 3 straight scoreless complete game SEC shutouts (which certainly helped the team be one of the top 8) and she doesnt appear in the post season? Thanks for your efforts Smith!

I mean come on... thats FN ridiculous!

Well something must be going around, its obviously good since we have our best three classes coming up the next three years with a top 6 class in 2021 as well. Recruiting actually is by far improving at the moment. Auburn and Tennessee are running a circus annually but they bring in top kids so it really doesn't matter apparently.

As far as Smith goes, what if the staff found out she wanted to transfer at the end of the year. What is the point in continuing to try to use someone who won't even be apart of the future at all. Sure it sucks but if we are thinking next two years, it makes no sense to use Smith.

As far as Corbello, unfortunately life isn't fair. This is a major Division I program. You don't "owe" people anything unfortunately, it sounds cruel but all the coaches are concerned with is winning and improving. Its not always about sacrifice, that isn't to say that no one doesn't appreciate what they have given but its all about winning.

I still don't understand the Corbello argument, she couldn't even be the damn ace at McNeese. The bottom line is she saw a lot more time due to another players suspension. LSU brought in two pitches who were much more developed and much more talented at the time. Most major programs don't give the time that LSU gives its pitchers. Most just ride one or maybe two the entire year. LSU gives a decent amount of time to a lot of people.

I thought we had the #2 class last year which was our best ever?

Exactly, which makes the whole stubbornness with certain players even more absurd when you view it in hindsight and look back at the starts wasted over the last two years. This mentality does nothing for the future of the program and did not make us better in any capacity in 2016, 2017 or for 2018. Hence the title of this thread.

So, are you another alter for Mark Griggs, who thinks he's the god of softball and will tell you that he's better than anyone on our staff?

so you are a coach? Really? 10U pickle ball? If you are really a coach who does this for a living and are a professional, then why do you say things like this with no proof?

I hope I don't get blasted , haven't been on here in a long time. I had to say a little about the Nicky Dawson thread. Ive missed very few lsu softball games over the years, more this year due to the flood and losing everything but my car. To me Dawson was fast but lacked a lot in hitting and defence. I was told she had a attitude that wasn't very good. Ive been know to run my mouth about this or that at the park . Sometimes it was just because I hate losing worst than anyone. We have over 2000 coaches in that park or that think they are and iam one of them. As for as Dawson hitting better than quin I don't think so not sure she even hit as good as the third baseman. It was clear she thought she was a lot better than she was. Now ive said a few things about the coaching in the heat of the moment that I shouldn't have said but that's fans we all do that. As for as coach t having favorites she probably does most coaches do . I think it's not as much a favorite with her it she has players she believes in a little more than others. every coach has a player or more than one they think can get the job done no matter what. Is she perfect no and neither is the god of football Saban. coach t and I have disagreed on things but hey she is the coach so ive decided to cool it on the coaching from the stands and watch the game. Ive supported these kids for years and I will do so as long as my health will let me go out there. So ill just say players leave for different reasons I didn't agree with why some left but that's water under the bridge. one thing I do think is gonna help lsu is getting Meribeth going and I think we need a really good change of pace pitcher like ou has two bad lefties one like that could really help us. Enough said iam a tiger fan and will always be and will support the team and coaches thru good and bad. GEAUX TIGERS

Sydney Smith - Minnesota
Nicky Dawson - Baylor
Taylor Satchell - Texas Tech

That's all I have seen at least. The Minnesota head coach left for the Stanford job, so that sort of sucks for Sydney.

Sydney also could have stayed here and played for a coach trying to go to a 4th straight WCWS next year.

I don't have hard feelings for her leaving here, but I have no sympathy for her having her new coach in Minnesota leave after a week, either.

I think people are taking some of these transfers way too seriously.

We do this every year, "the program is in downfall"

It is what it is, sometimes there is a disconnect too from the player and the program they play for, not everything is a perfect fit, it's part of sports.

We add three transfers to next years team, Bourg, Schlattman and Schulte. Still another rumor or two that we may add another infielder but not sure yet. We add a pretty good class with two All American players. It'll be okay.
