Good game for Gorsuch, definitely should be a confidence booster for her. She needed this.

Literally, Beth gave her oppertunities all last weekend when quinn was playing poorly.

I doubt this is the last we've seen of her this season but last weekend was her shot to inch ahead and she went 0-fer just like Quinn but with more errors. Now Beth is probably defaulting to the player she's seen perform before.

Beth is definitely gonna give her some more shots but if she wants any shot at all to start then she is going to have to make plays when she is in the game, making the most of the opportunities.

Butt hurt much? Give the Dawson thing a rest. When she got in she didn't produce, will she get more chances sure, and then she needs to improve and produce. These are not little 14 year old girls like she was used to playing against for the last 4 years.

I am sure she will continue to improve, but if you think she is going to set the world on fire, you need to check yourself. That is an awful lot of pressure to put on a young girl.

The game is much faster than she is used to, and time will tell if she can make the adjustments needed to play at this level.

Don't forget, we are not even close to playing the hard teams on our schedule.

Why the attacks on Dawson? Do you have some agenda against her that we don't know about? I noticed you attacked another poster when she brought her up as well, why?

The game is much faster, haha, but only to her and not the other freshman, right? You obviously know little about anything.

Good day

Probably has to do with most game threads this season delvolving into Nikki Dawson fanfiction.

False, I haven't seen anything on her in quite a while. TB was back giving his/her assessment. It was fair questions and he/her gave fair assessments.

But I get it, unless you want to see the players attacked don't ask questions about personnel or line ups.

Because she was getting in games and not doing much so the "she's good for 2-3 runs a game" nonsense wasn't started.

Against her? Nothing negative was said about her. But like someone posted, tired of most threads turning into the Nikki Dawson thread.

We have 2 freshman turning it on Springfield and Doyle. One was named to the USA junior team. Right now in MY OPINION the other freshman are just not ready yet.

We have 5 solid starters. 2 freshman that have really stepped up. 2 positions that could be up for grabs. 2b and Lf. I imagine it is Constance job to lose. Don't forget, Sanchez can play 2nd and Doyle can play 3rd. Lots of options for coaching staff

I really hope that we don't have this every game the rest of the season. Dawson will have her chances. Shes good but this is college, not hs. It is going to be a struggle. I mean this for all the freshman. the adjustment from hs to college is big.

We have seen glimpses of greatness from Quinn at times, after she struggled to open the season, Beth gave Dawson a couple of games to see what she can do. It might not sound fair getting limited opportunities but she has to make her case if she wants any chance of playing. She went 0 for something all last weekend and even worse, she committed an error as well on top of it.

I will say this again, people need a reality check!! Dawson will be a big time player before she graduates but people need to be patient. Its ludicrous saying she is going to earn 2-3 runs a game herself. She still has things to polish up and I can promise you this is not the last of her we will see. Whether its Quinn or whoever, we all just want this team to be successful. Beth will do everything in her power to put this team in the best position to win.

Just be patient and enjoy the journey, this team is young in many ways and it will get there, its still February.

Long post, I know but some of you are ridiculous.

Some of y'all have truly lost it attacking posters for asking questions. Then take it to a different level and try to insult the player. Don't say you didn't say anything negative about the player when you make snide remark after snide remark about her. It is apparent a few of you never watch the games and you have definitely not seen this particular girl play very much.

Quinn is the starting second baseman and will be all year barring injury. That's a fact that no one will change. It is laughable for you to come on here and say a true freshman that started off the year 1 for 7 didn't "produce" while the incumbent 3 year starter begins the year 2 for 18 with multiple consecutive starts but gets the nod. There has been no "fair opportunity" or Dawson would have also gotten multiple consecutive starts to see what she could do. There has been no intention since Dawson's arrival for her to contribute this year. She should have red shirted.

Beth and Staff proved this last season by refusing to make a change at 2nd. Quinn is the answer for them. If you watched all fall, Quinn was it. Nothing Dawson or Sanchez could do will change it and nothing Dawson or Sanchez will do the rest of the Spring will change it. It's a case of one can't fail and one can't succeed no matter what happens between the lines. That is one of the tough decisions that coaches have to make.

This talk occurs because Dawson is arguably the top position player recruit in LSU softball history and (if you go back and read my fall post) has been awkwardly handled since her arrival. This is Quinn's team, the "heart and soul" of the team and Dawson has found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time not because she started the year off 1 for 7. Saying she got opportunity and blew it is a cop out. If 1 for 7 defines your chances in this sport we would have a 100% rate of lost opportunity.

So get a hold of yourself and debate, put out ideas, don't just go after the kid or the other posters because they simply ask why one of the top rated recruits in the country can't get in any type of game rotation. TigerBait357 gave an excellent possibility. Try following his lead.

Now, let's go win some more games and hope the players the staff chooses to play continue to get better.

Is she hitting .825 or .125? You people are bringing the criticism on her.

There is no doubt that Dawson is a very talented kid.

The reason Quinn is still getting looks is because its still very early in the season, we have had players that have struggled greatly early and it all changes by midseason. I think Beth is trying to be patient, but it is pretty telling when Beth was giving Dawson those opportunities last weekend , if Quinn continues to go 0 for whatever, then other players will see those opportunities.

If Quinn gets back to being solid offensively then its her job. If she continues to bat below .200 then you will see other players have their chances. Being an elite recruit means nothing, regardless how amazing you were in HS. Look at former LSU transfer Selman, she was considered by most people one the top pitchers in the country coming out HS. It didn't pan out when she got here and these things do happen. Springfield wasn't considered a top 100 player and look at her, she is arguably one of the best hitters on this team as a freshman.

I agree starting the season 1-7 doesn't define you but, seeing Beth give Dawson a couple games to see what she can do tells me that Quinn position is not set and stone.

Enough with the Dawson/Quinn talk. How about Serrett? Who would have guessed she would be our leader in homeruns this early with 3, more than all of last season. Hopefully we continue to see this trend. I know Doyle and Springfield will get some eventually

Red shirt her? What do you think they are playing football or baseball. The kid is already 20 years old...you want her to be a 25 year old Sr.?

Give it a break....she looks talented...but all the bullshite about being the top this or that...is just that...bullshite!

Long Beach is tonight at 10pm Central.

They are 4-5-1. They lost both games on day 1 in Palm Springs...6-4 to Oklahoma State and 5-0 to Texas A&M. Their team batting average is only .226

That is one thing I like with Beth she always has a difficult out of conference schedule yearly. I saw later on we play Minnesota and I know they are good.

The home tournament next week is legit. One game with Minnesota, 2 games with Florida Atlantic, and one game with Illinois (where Tyra Perry is coaching now), all of whom made regionals last year. Florida Atlantic was 51-9 last year but lost twice in the Gainesville regional to Central Florida. LSU also plays Troy and Illinois State next week...6 games in 3 days. Great test for a deep pitching staff.
