Who did Smith lose?

She is saying 2B, that is correct. Antoine is athletic and was okay at SS in high school and OMG why do we always struggle at 2B?

in place of Serrett
No, unfortunately we are so thin at middle infield we cannot even offer Serrett any competition to hope to push her level of play up a bit. We simply have zero options up the middle which is staggering to think about as well as we seem to recruit. Think about our middle depth? If we have an injury what options do we even have?

Annoying as you are most of the time,
Interesting take. I do my best to use stats, facts and logic when making an argument. You may not like those stats or facts but I don't really remember anyone making a coherent argument where I have been way off base. When I am wrong I will admit it. Disagreeing or not liking what I say using emotion while ignoring what it really going on is not a good way to debate.
Not saying that is your MO, but many on this board debate or argue with pure emotion instead of following the statistic driven data that is right in front of us. The ole "well you haven't been to every practice" is a cop out. It's not to much to expect a reasonable standard of performance from our teams. It's not to much to expect a very high paid staff to make an actual adjustment on position player analysis and philosophy.
Just my take...

One player I remember in particular was Alyssa Martinez
She was a top recruit out from Cali, was suppose to start immediately left the program
Haley Lundermann quit softball
and like 3 or 4 other transfers

Just saw that Baylor destroyed NDSU in the last game of the round robin and ran the pitcher that shut us out last night. That Baylor win is going to really help us in the long run. That team can hit.

This doesn't sound to far from home. I guess when they leave Ole Miss Smith runs them off and when they leave LSU its all on the player.
Think about the comparison.
Dawson, top player, should have started from day 1, transfers.
Cunningham, another top recruit, quit the team.
2 other transfers.

how is it that Amber could bat over .300 all her freshman season, was able to hit inside pitches and not swing at much junk pitches
Then sophomore and junior years can't do either and sees a tremendous drop in average and her strike out ration has dramatically increased with each season

I will say Dawson has been the only transfer LSU's ever had that has been successful at the school transferred outside of Selman who only really played as a senior.
All the other ones haven't been impressive at all. Still doesn't take away from there is a major developmental problem of hitters for the most part

I think some of it has to do with scouting book on players. Freshman come in, usually hit lower in the order and get good pitches to hit. As these teams see them more and more, they have a solid pattern on getting them out. As they move up in the line up, they are pitched different and usually see tougher pitches to hit. Being down in the order is a blessing in a lot of cases and her freshman year was probably Beth's best offensive team of her reign. Much easier to hit on that team than this one. We had some horses.
I like Serrett, but I don't really think she was ever an elite hitter on any level. She has a missile for an arm but if you break her down in other terms she doesn't really have anything that sticks out. She is an average runner, has average glove side range but can get to some balls on the backhand side, has been a below average fielder and has not been an average hitter but will run into a 5 or 6 a year and show some power.

Serrett isn't an elite hitter but should definitely be performing way better than now not continue to look worse with each season

Agree, but I believe this is part of the developmental problem of hitters. When you just let ultra talented kids sit and stale and insist on playing upper classmen that have zero upside and will never get better you lose the ability to develop.
When you get those young ones in that are really talented you pencil them in and understand that you may have some growing pains but in the long run they are going to be the stars and faces of the program. This insistence on playing underperforming upper classmen is where the issues begin in my humble opinion.

We are so bad offensively that it seems like she is extending the zone and swinging at some bad pitches. She may be putting pressure on herself knowing the team is looking to her to deliver. When she waits on good pitches she can be a tough out. When she is expanding the zone, which is what the good pitchers do to her, she is not going to have success.
Doyle does the same thing sometimes.

I agree with you I hope we can find an answer
I am happy we are 26-5 but it doesn't take away the major problems we face as a program. Just because we are elite on the mound, it shouldn't excuse or allow a pass for offensive performances
The weekly coaches just yelled at a South Carolina player

We are stupid tough to beat at Tiger Park. If we can just find a way to not implode on the road we can find a way to be a top 8 seed and not have to worry about going on the road. We are a different team at home but with no more games than we have had on the road this year and seeing us at KY, I am a bit worried.

I am almost 100% positive she is told to do it because the other ones sure as hell can't. She is a phenomenal hitter but we can't always ask her to be superhero
hell even last year for Jaquish she took her hack at awful pitches to make some magic happen

I am a torina pumper and I am an optimist but I am also realistic
If she can have a top 25 offense to pair with her pitching and development on the mound, she is a lock for the world series almost most years.
But the issue is we are not even close to average on offense

Tennessee is a wreck on the mound as of late
But South Carolina definitely impressed all weekend offensively

I know y'all were talking about Baylor being a good win for us, Auburn has taken the series against Kentucky and lead 1-0 in the 3rd.

That won't end here. I think more will transfer over next two years. Wait and see.
