Well said. Pumpers are going to believe Steele will make the defense like the 86 Bears. They also believe Miles when he says Jennings is improving dramatically in workouts.

The decision followed one of the program's worst defensive performances, as Clemson suffered an embarrassing 70-33 loss to West Virginia in the Discover Orange Bowl. The 70 points were the most points scored by a team in any bowl game.

Past is prologue. The best bet is this guy is a failure again.

Why not? Plenty of people wrote off Miles because of the headset her wore in his first game.

And your point?

I don't think his HC resume is very important.

I tend to agree with this too, but being that Steele is a defensive coach, his defenses while a head coach should have been expected to be better. While at Baylor, his defenses were pretty bad. Cal put up 70 on him in his 4th year as head coach. A Les Miles led Oklahoma State put up 63 on Baylor that same season, the most points a Les Miles coached team has ever scored (has scored 63 twice at LSU vs Idaho and New Mexico State).

I hope we are all wrong and Steele ends up being a great DC, but there's just not a whole lot to be excited about with the hire, at the moment.
