The o-line won that game for them. I know Saban is all about D. BUT if you watch how he gets his coaches into it, they realize that if you have them on D YOU pound them on offense. It seemed to work RIGHT???????????

I didn't say he didn't have a good OL at Michigan State, LSU, Bama or even Miami(NFL). I said he doesn't know very much about it. Although he has a high turnover rate, he attracts and selects outstanding assistant coaches.

That is another characteristic I admire in Miles - He also seems to be able to attract a high quality level of assistant coach, the co-DC debacle notwithstanding.

I am gone man because I am tired of BS, all people love to do is give their lil theories on what went wrong, it's called excuses, you just don't blow a huge lead to a team you were dominating, that is up to the coaches to keep them focused and they did not do that!

I am arguing with my old lady and I am hyped right now, I just don't have time for this shite! peace

And you just don't lose to UAB EVER. Or give up a 31-0 shutout to Bama at home. Or lose to UL-M when you are coaching Bama. There is simply no excuse for any of that.

I don't hate Miles, but I do think its clear that without two very good coordinators he cannot even win the SEC West, much less the MNC.

The last two seasons were painful to watch. Considering that the architect of the 112th ranked offense is returning for another year, I don't see a lot of hope for challenging Bama for the West title. Even if the offense improved from 112th to 60th, which I doubt is possible, we'd still rank in the bottom third of the SEC in total offense.

Miles Haters and Miles Lovers take a moment from this fight to realize this biggest moment of our lives is about to happen. Lebron James is about to announce his decision, so lets quit bickering and salute the King.

2 years is such a small sample. Carolina was better than Miami in 2005 and 2006. Does that make John Fox better than Saban? LSU was almost twice as good as Bama in 2007. Does that mean Miles is better than Saban?

Apples to Apples - Saban 5 years at LSU 48-16
Miles 5 years at LSU 51-15. Miles has 3 more wins, 1 fewer loss. Saban has 1 more SEC title.

All I have ever maintained in all of this is that, there is no objective evidence to place Saban in any significantly higher tier than Miles. Saban has been coaching longer. They had similar records at their starter programs (Miles at Okie State, Saban at Toledo/MSU). They had similar success at LSU. And we won't know for 3-5 more years if Saban lurches ahead, levels off or whatever, or Miles catches up/collapses, etc.

Right now, any one who is being objective must concede that, on paper, the two have very comparable resumes. If you cannot say that or even think that, fine. But, to be intellectually honest, you have to admit that you are biased in favor of one or the other.

So, you don't like Chavis, either? Or Gonzo? I agree that Crowton hasn't gotten it done for almost two years, but he's got as fine a resume as any OC in college football. I don't care for Stud, either, but overall with Cooper, Wilson, Ensminger (as a TE coach, he's a steal), Haley, Chavis, Gonzo and Crowton, that's still an "A" grade coaching staff, though maybe an A minus.

hiring Crowton was one of the best moves Miles has made...not firing him is one of the worst.

I have stayed out of this discussion but this

It is not apples to apples
The talent level when Saban came in compared to when Les came in was not equal. Was LSU horrible before Saban came in? No but they were not recruiting in Top 10-15 consistently.
Dinardo left Saban with enough talent to turn the program around quickly but we lacked depth
When Les stepped in LSU was loaded with talent and depth. Les has continued to build upon that and has exceeded many of the fan bases expectations cause not many had the expectation for him to be as good a recruiter as Saban was.

But it is not apples to apples, maybe Cucumber to Pickle since they are related but not exactly the same.

Not only do I think it's possible, I think it is probable that we crack the top 40 on offense. As badly as the offense played in 2009, we were 5 plays (not counting "bad" officiating against Bama) from being undefeated. On paper, the 2007 team was only three plays better (two plays from being undefeated).

about 80 more yards per game...wipe out the sacks and 2 less drops and you're there.

That wont happen unless. Coach Saban comes back and straightens out the mess that miles has created.

I remember us needing A LOT of help for that 2003 championship birth too. There are many things you can hold against Miles, but IMO this is not one of them. Bottom line - we won the 2007 championship

The only team in history. (to the best of my knowledge) that won a NC with two losses. Yea that is something to be very proud of.
