nd i am going to disagree with you and ACE man, I know LSU campus was a mess, but that's not Miles concern, he's hired to coach a team and win football games, Katrina excuse is getting old, if anything he could have brought joy to those displaced, suffering people by winning the NC.
that's just a rediculas statement in my opinion. But oh well. Y'all enjoy, I am out.

The lines were a little light, especially the two-deep OL, but that was Saban's biggest weakness, too -
I disagree!! Did you se what the LSU o-line did to MSU in 2000??? That is a SABAN specialty. He works teams down with the o-line in the 4th quarter.

Dinardo wouldn't have led them to a title anyways.
That may be true. He looked outstanding with "A" grade coordinators. I still regard him as an outstanding recruiter. He was not a scheme coach by any stretch, and his over-reliance on unqualified coordinators cost him his job (and LSU a bunch of football games).
But, he was an outstanding recruiter. Saban does not win the 2001 SEC championship without the players that Dinardo recruited, period.

I agree 100%.

whatever, man, keep makin excuses for Katrina losing football games, Katrina caused the 30 point collapse to Tenn, right?
Katrina, also caused them to get blown out by an inferior Ga. in the SECCG too because she followed them there.
bad coaching caused all that, STOP MUTHA frickIN BLAMING KATRINA, you probably still getting checks from FEMA, huh?

I agree with that too the comment about some of Dinardo players helping to win the 2001 SEC title, but don't tell me Dinardo players won the NC.

Saban knows very little about offense. Saban's specialties are, more or less in order, 1.) Defensive backs; 2.) Recruiting; 3.) Defensive coordination; 4.) Head coaching and (maybe) 5.) LB play.
He is not necessarily overly-dependent on his offensive coordinators, but is certainly typical among defensive oriented head coaches. His specialty is most certainly not OL play (or OL recruiting, even - again I didn't blame Saban - the LSU recruiting base is skill players, and, if anything DL - OL is probably our weakest recruiting link).

Peej you really think a 30 point lead on a beat Tennesse team was because of Katrina, c'mon your better than that. Georgia also beat the crap out of LSU, that's just bad coaching , man. I'm tired, I'm out.

ASK TEXAS!!! The o-line won that game for them. I know Saban is all about D. BUT if you watch how he gets his coaches into it, they realize that if you have them on D YOU pound them on offense. It seemed to work RIGHT???????????

NO DISRESPECT, BUT YOU NEED A BREAK!!!!!!

The tenn game was mostly dueto a conservative gameplan in the second half. But our players were dead tired. And maybe that had a little to do with the gameplan. I don't know. But at least I can understand that there are more than one reason things can go bad.
didn't help to lose our starting qb in that game.
If you really think Katrina had no effect on the team then you fooling yourself. Katrina was the whole semester. We had daily videos of the team help relief efforts and spending their time to help others. That on top of school and football.
Seriously, just stop.

What would your image of him be if he get's LSU another BCSNC in the next year or two?
Its a shame we have to resort to hypotheticals in order to say something positive about the man. Damn.

True. Maybe a couple he recruited that redshirted, but that's fair (but that's far different from getting an empty cupboard).
Likewise, don't tell me "Saban's" players won the NC in 2007. The senior leaders, certainly, were recruited by Saban and did play for him a season. Most of them were going to LSU, anyway. Flynn, Chevis Jackson, Will Arnold and Highsmith were great OOS pulls by Saban, but where were guys like Dorsey, Hester, Zinger, Doucet and many other Louisiana kids going to go? Those were LSU recruits, not Saban recruits, anyway. Even those he did recruit, he coached a year, year and a half at most.

It's become fairly obvious to me now, after the '05 talk, that you absolutely refuse to say anything good about or give any credit to any coach whose name isn't Saban. I can't take you seriously anymore. Im out of this thread.
