The same as it is now...a damn good coach, recruiter and the man who brought the 2007 National Championship to LSU.

And before the rant-tards get started, YES, he's made mistakes. Show me a coach who hasn't. They all do. He's no different. I firmly believe that even when/if they win another one, we would still have fans who would bitch about him and the program.

As an example to that, search Paul Minieri threads after the end of the baseball season this year. This is a man who is 1 year removed from winning it all, lost several key players to the draft and people were raking him over the coals after they got put out of the regionals because we didn't bunt as successful as they thought we should!!

Because of recent successes, too many live in a delusional world where they think that LSU should win the National Championship EVERY YEAR....be it football or baseball. Success has spoiled them and let it go to their heads. God forbid the basketball team wins the NC because 2 years later, fans would be calling for Trent's head for not getting back to the finals.

Those two loses to Ken. and Ark. in '07 had QBs who were statue qbs and LSU did not blitz the quarterbacks, that is the reason we did not win those games, still we had a very good team.

People calling for PM and Trent's head are a small portion. No logical person would do that, especially PM.

Miles, though, has been at the center of the fire since his hiring. Even during his first three years, there was a lot of grumbling about underachieving. Hell, after the Arky game in 2007, there was a ton of grumbling about getting rid of him.

He's never had what you would call a honeymoon period.

My view of Les has been the same as Day 1
He is a good/decent coach who needs great assistant coaches to make his job easier. As he has won and coaches left to go to better jobs he did a poor job replacing them. He is a great recruiter, a poor game decision manager, and a decent motivator.

Could LSU do better? Honestly I would like to think of it as a premier job in all of college football and would like to think other coaches would like to come here.

I think alot of that has to do with PM taking over for Smoke (who everyone hated) and Trent taking over for Brady (who alot of people hated). You still have people on here, 6 years later, giving Saban verbal reach-arounds on a daily basis....not you ofcourse.

Nick Saban is the greatest coach in college football history. Sorry. It's science.

So many of you seem to hate Miles now...
What would your image of him be if he get's LSU another BCSNC in the next year or two?

So because 50-100 people on a message board "seem" to hate Miles now, this automatically is a demographic representative sampling for the millions of other LSU alumni and fans around the world?
You would not do well in Marketing Research.

I remember us needing A LOT of help for that 2003 championship birth too.

Didn't Hawaii have to beat Fresno State or Boise State or something like that?

The Saban lovers will NEVER accept him. This has happened once before. The Dietzel lovers never forgave Mac for not being Dietzel. It just took them longer to can him than expected.

Neither would you pal...at least he didn't make a retarded assumption of 50-100 people on a message board.

Look back at the 2007 season, tell me you saw solid coaching by Les Miles that year. If your honest about it, you know that he made many coaching mistakes. That team was far and away the most talented in the country, yet it took several miracles from a team that was destined to win it all despite bad coaching. He can recruit, I'll give him that. I'm not a coach, or an expert on coaching, but it doesn't take 1 to see bad coaching

And, I assume by your tone, you didn't see any bad coaching at LSU from 2000 through 2004?

damn, man, you gotta stop with the I'll show Nick Saban my arse contest. Dude is far and away a better coach than Miles even Meyer, not far from Meyer, but he is better.

and guess what you lose games when you have decent talent and you are tryin to build them into a NC powerhouse, which he did.

just give it a rest already.

The mistakes I saw from Les were, well, kinda stupid, even the guys calling the games were like " WTF? " You have to not look stupid when you make stupid calls.

If you are looking for any kind of objectivity from him...good luck. No matter what idiotic things his hero does can be explained away as the same mistakes all coaches make during a normal season.

I could say the same thing to you Saban lovers. Saban is a good coach. He is one of the better coaches in college football. So is Miles. Meyer is also. Carroll is gone. Mack Brown is another.

There is no objective evidence that Saban is "vastly" superior to Miles. NONE. They have comparable records and accomplishments over the course of their careers. Miles is probably better at the edges. He beat Stoops twice while at Okie State. He doesn't lose to UAB, ULM, etc., (though he tried to lose to Troy). He seems to be more spectacular in the big games, ND, The U, after spotting tOSU 10 points rolled, etc., versus Saban sputtering in 2008. Saban certainly on a more even keel, once he gets rolling (though look at 2004).

That's as objective as I can be comparing my coach and a coach/"human being" that I cannot stand. Take it or leave it, but I don't like LSU bashers of any "stripe".
