Returned Kicks and Punts for TD, and locked down WR better. Also lead the nations number 9 defense. Also get named all Sec FIRST coaches team (2 X) and AP team get nominated for the Thorpe award. Oh also he is bigger and stronger than Jenoris.

Is this thread serious?

Peterson is the best corner in the nation. Hands down. A corner name is only mentioned when A) he gets an interception, or B) a negative play by that corner.

Peterson is a beast. In 12 games, probably 20 passes were caught on PP while he was in man coverage. Now thats saying something.

whoever thinks PP was outplayed or overhyped clearly does not know what they are talking about!!! Be blessed that he chose LSU, he is as special as they come just be honored that he has graced our field!

He wasn't as electrifying on Punt returns

because teams kicked away from him

and he missed some very easy tackles

when?

I truly feel like he was playing not to get hurt.

that is because you are an idiot

Whenever there was a pile up, he was not jumping in, or trying to push the file back as other players were.

he doesn't play DL or LB, he plays fricking cornerback

hmm... did i ever say that i watched every game? no. SammyTiger thank you thats all that needed to be said. I'm not hating on PP just for the sake to hate. I am an LSU fan I love PP and hope he comes back next year. But all this talk about him being the best corner of the past 15 years is absurd. Yes he is a great corner and returner. but when people say that others can't hold a candle to PP. its a little ridiculous

not the play i'm talking about. im talking about the play where the receiver caught the ball at the sideline. PP tried to jump a crossing route and left his man wide open. resulted in a TD.

you mean the play where he released the player into the safety's ZONE and the safety blew the coverage?

Also, most of Jones' catches came when PP was not covering him or we were playing zone coverage off of him. He had 1 nice catch on a perfectly thrown ball in the endzone where PP had perfect coverage.

NJ, what sets him apart is how big he is compared to other great corners. An average CB 5'10 185, Peterson 6'2 220 runs a 4.20 there is nobody at his position who is that freakish.

You forget half the rant never played football. They dont understand that Petrino studied film and put together passing plays with route combinations that are effective against Zone coverage.

For those who dont understand:
The out against man is a hot read in case we blitzed. The out against zone serves to occupy a defender.

The fade against man is if you get a match up you want. The fade against zone is designed for a qb to find the streaking receiver in the window.

Mallet read the coverage at the line, and knew what he had. Point blank period

As a guy whose going to school to be a football coach, and a former college football player, i love reading all the uninformed posters here on the rant. Not saying you're one by any means, but just in general.

So basically you are telling me that a former D3 football player that is currently majoring in Kinesiology is more "informed" to make rational depictions of technical football situations?

Listen, as for the guy that said that he should not be involved in gang tackling because he is a CB...holy shite. CBs provide run support, just as Lbs/DL fall back into coverage. It's a team sport. But you know that, you played ball at South Poly Technical State A&M College...
