People didn't throw to him. If he could teleport 40 yards to where the football was being thrown and intercept it then I would be very impressed. Also, how can you be complaining about his punt return TDs? Do you even have any idea how rare it is to get one, much less more than one like he did this year? Even the most electrifying returners will only get a couple of return touchdowns in a year.
yes i realize that special teams touchdowns are hard to come by. yes he did show up in the arkansas game in the return game. teams with good quarterbacks went after PP. julio owned him and maze burned him on a fade once and PP tackled him before the ball got there. and he blew a coverage that led to a touchdown against arky. just saying

Ok now I get it, cornerbacks aren't allowed to let anyone catch passes on them, even if it's some of the best receivers in the sport. Can't wait till I can watch someone with one of these mythical cornerbacks who doesn't let a single pass get completed on him.

Hey gekko frick you how about that!!! You are probably some fat arse loser that wishes he had half the talent as PP7!!! Get a life!

Am I the only one who realized that PP was no where to be found after the WVu game? No TD's and 1 pick.
what a joke.
look at Morris Claiborne's INT total. He can thank Peterson for people throwing that way.
Look at the way TM was able to get to the QB on those blitzes and make plays. Thank Peterson for that coverage.
Yeah, Julio Jones had a decent game. 1 game! We had no pass rush all year. Do you know how hard it is to cover when you cant generate a pass rush?

PP had a very good year and made an impact every game. He did not have a high number of interceptions or bone-jarring tackles that make good highlights on ESPN.
He covered receivers well. He broke up several passes. He tackled well if receivers did catch the ball. He played well in run support and made tackles pretty much every time he got solid contact on the runner. He had a great year as a returner. There isn't a whole lot more he could do. Sorry he wasn't more entertaining.
I haven't observed any other teams really play that much, so I can't give an objective opinion as to whether he was truly the best cornerback or defensive player this year. But he did play well. And every cornerback who has ever played the game has plays made against him and sometimes gets burned: Neon Deion, Champ Bailey, Corey Webster, etc. Peterson is no different, and I don't really recall him getting burned or abused very much at all; he just didn't have that many spectacular plays. This doesn't diminish his impact.
The last 2-3 seasons, it has been interesting (in a bad way) to see how fickle some fans are. Good accomplishments are far overshadowed in the minds of LSU fans by one or two bad plays; it's like some fans expect to see bad play by LSU, endure 58 minutes of good play, but feel validated by the 2 minutes of bad play that they were expecting to see... before some bone-head replies to point out a bad game or bad half where it was far more than 2 minutes of bad play, I mean what I said figuratively, not literally. Some LSU fans the past two years are simply more fixated on the bad, so that they don't appreciate the good; that's all I'm saying.

I want all you fricking morons bashing Peterson to realize 1 thing about your argument
you idiots are picking out a handful of plays to criticize Peterson and use as your "he didnt play well" ammo.
A fade route by Maze, the Arkansas play, the few catches by Jones? What about the hundreds of other plays that he dominated?
But no, go ahead and focus on the negative plays as your basis for judging his 2010...
And let me address Mathieu while I'm at it. Tyrann Mathieu had an excellent year and will be an amazing player. However, Mathieu's job was to run around like his hair was on fire and make plays. That was his job and he did it very well. Answer me this, if the roles were reversed, could Mathieu consistently go 1 on 1 with the opponents best WR all game long, all year long? Also, could Peterson play free lance mad man like Mathieu?

Let it be known that i'm not hating on PP. I'm just stating that he may not have had as good a year as everyone thinks. I understand that the jiz you guys were spewing could have got in the way with you guys watching the game.
also. i'm not an oregon fan. i go to LSU. just have the oregon logo to show that i want auburn to lose

16 of those 32 sacks came in the first 5 games of the year with Sam Montgomery
so no, we didnt have much of a pass rush in the 2nd half of the season, the real games

When i say "pass rush", i mean our ability to rush the passer without blitzing.
most of our sacks came on blitzes by LBS and DBs
Which speaks more to our ability and trust the coaches have in the Dbs.
our DL was dreadful outside of Nevis in getting to the QB. Especially after Montgomery went down.

much like Dorsey, he was very hyped at th ebeginning of the season. Not saying the hype was not justified, but that is why.

exactly, we had little natural pass rush.
22.5 of our 32 sacks came from LBs/DBs/Nevis. Thats 70%
Nevis accounted for 6 sacks. 16.5 of our other sacks were results of blitzing.
In other words, our coaches trust PP and Co. enough to take players out of coverage to blitz.

Agreed. I can understand saying you were disappointed because he didn't get as many picks or punt returns, but this guy is talking about PP as if he was Jason David or something. It really is funny reading everything he has to say.

Once all you come up for air out of PP's lap for a second, you can hear me out.
PP is an amazing athlete. As one guy pointed out, I do not have half of the athletic ability that PP has, nor does anyone else that has posted in this thread. PP is a great lock down corner, and a great open field tackler.
I feel that the second half of the season, he turned down the knob on his game a bit. He wasn't as electrifying on Punt returns, he was caught out of position, and he missed some very easy tackles. I truly feel like he was playing not to get hurt. Whenever there was a pile up, he was not jumping in, or trying to push the file back as other players were.
After the WVU, PP entered the NFL draft as far as I am concerned. And the amazing thing is, he was still one of the best in CFB at the CB position. He just simply did not play to HIS utmost potential.

People who think hamilton's td were PP fault need to stop listening taking everything the announcers say as gospel. One he made a move to another man and Hatcher didn't pick up his guy, and took a week angle. and the other people expect him to be able to change body direction and tackle a man with a blocked in a completely open field after Hatcher takes out the guy covering him?
Also cannot take away how good of a returner he is.
