I'm sure proximity was a factor in his decision.
well the poster should have listed it. Maybe it was a factor, but it couldn't have been more important than traffic.
Seriously though. What is wrong with supporting a team from a school you don't go to? At columbia, I saw a lot more school logos from other schools than I did from CU. go figure.
I hope my son is a Tiger fan, but I hope he goes to a better school.

no offense intended, but surely you can see where its kind of a douche move to wear the hat of the school your team is playing around campus.

I wore LSU stuff to Tech all the time. Lots of people did.

He was talking about wearing it the week of the game.

Back in the day, there weren't that many people wearing college shirts and caps around school anyway. It was seen as being pretty harry-high-school... like wearing your high school letter jacket on campus.

I believe that cheering for the Tigers is woven into our culture and it starts when we're kids. I grew up in North La. and always remembered my family cheering for the Tigers...and trust me, only my mom and dad attended college (and it wasn't LSU)

Even though I went to a different in state school and supported them at the football, basketball, baseball games, I still was a Tiger fan because that's how my parent's raised me.

Again, you don't have to go to LSU to be a Tiger fan. (But if you go to another Louisiana school and wear LSU stuff, you gotta be willing to take some heat now and then.)

Beat ULL, Tech and Tulane (and any other Louisiana team that comes along)

Just give it up. I thought UsL students don't care and don't waste any of their precious time thinking about LSU... cuz dey got partying to do?

LSU does it too!

We don't like you, Florida, Bama, etc. and have never been as pretentious about it like you've been all day.

why do you find it necessary to trash the school you go to? do you find it impossible to pull for more than one team? if you are an LSU fan do you have to hate UL?

there are plenty of people at UL who hate LSU and just as many at LSU who hate UL. thats the way it is.

its up to YOU to choose whether you can support both.

im a UL grad student who grew up a tiger fan and attended LSU. i support both even though the tigers are my number one team and its not close.

no need to start trash talking threads about this. you are showing that you are no different than them.

i don't hate my school. that's not what the thread was for, i was just saying how aggravating it is when i hear ULL students say roll tide, go dawgs, and go gators. why do they have to hate LSU? thats aggravating, i have nothing against ULL, i like lafayette. its just the people who have a vendetta with LSU for no reason other than LSU just being LSU.

I have always wondered why people don't support the school they go to or graduated from. I graduated from Tech, however I still don't have a problem pulling for LSU, except when they play Tech. What I am confused by is why people who graduated from Tech, ULL, SLU etc. who support LSU both publically and financially over their own alma mater. I know some LSU fans would say get over it, but how would they feel if LSU students, alum, publically supported and financially supported Alabama, Ole Miss, or Florida and wore clothing around LSU from those schools as they attended classes?

thats uncalled for if people are doing that. i havent heard anyone say that, but i would likely be aggravated if i did hear it

i just think its lame on both sides. i dont get why people cannot just support louisiana football? (except Tulane, they suck)

Why does it matter to you? Perhaps that's the question you should be asking of yourself.

Where does this ownership over the actions of others come from in the mind of some? To me, it's fairly simple...it's none of my business why another supports or doesn't support anything they want. It's your money, your time, and your effort....do with it as you see fit and I will to the same. Isn't that the American way?

Go where you want and support who you want. If people have a problem with it they are covering up for something else. Why do we have to create problems for other people? That is our President's job.

There are lots of reasons. Say for example you actually wanted to go to a top tier school and had the grades for it, but grew up in Louisiana and still wanted to support LSU..

Would you pass up an opportunity to attend MIT, so you could be a Tigah? I know I sure as hell wouldn't, I would of gotten my engineering degree from a school like MIT if I could of afforded or got in a place like that.

Say you can't afford LSU and didn't qualify for financial aid or any scholarships? Would you just say f**k college and try your hand in the world with a high school degree?

I have a coworker that went to Tennessee. He was born and raised in Mandeville and moved to Knoxville sophomore year of high school. LSU fan from birth. He couldn't afford a no scholarship/financial aid payment at LSU which was now out of state for him, so he chose to pay in state tuition at Tenn. He didn't support them by any means other than paying to go to class there because it was a means to an end to better his position in life. He still support LSU athletics.

Personally, I think there is nothing wrong with that. He chooses to support an athletic team. It's just sports, it's just a game. Some people take this sh*t way too seriously for what it actually is, it's a child's game...
