Surely the solution is to start yet another thread on what has turned out to be the most contentious issue on the rant since the split title in 2003.

Les Miles, by virtue of his NC in '07 has earned the right to take a few years off and a plethora of 4-6 loss seasons to go along with it. He is untouchable...according to the apologists. You are not allowed to criticize one single move by the Les man. Even Houston Nutt knows better than to gloat following his annual win over LSU, for fear that Sammich and Choctaw are waiting in the wings with chloroform and a baseball bat.

See there's nothing in my OP about who's a better coach. I was asking the haters what we should do to fix it. Outside of them sniping and sucking off Saban there's been only a couple of suggestions

Time will tell who is the better coach. Miles still has time to pad his legacy, or destroy it. Its up to him, not us.

Roger, come on, we have underachieved no one wants that. How do we fix it? Attacking those guys isnt a solution. I think we've made some corrective moves but we'll see. I think Les deserves a shot to keep improving over 08. I'm open ot other ideas what do you suggest?

I agree. It is frustrating though, but Les deserves a shot at redemption. I am not anti Les Miles, I am for Les Miles but frustrated at the product on the field. In some ways, he is a victim of his own success.

I think we could have almost all of them if we wanted besides one. Petrino.

Yeah, Petrino interviewed for the LSU job after left for Miami, but Skippy didn't think he interviewed very well, so that bridge is burned.

Les is already getting 3.75 and it's going to take more than that to land one of the Big Boys, probably 4-5 million. None of that OC/DC BS either. PROVEN HEAD COACH only. LSU is bigger than that now and simply can't afford any gambles on an unproven OC/DC. Somebody who's NOT scared of the pressure and expectations to be head coach at L.S.U. and play in the S.E.C.. A real hard arse who's not a "Nice Guy."

Should be able to attract a few candidates that want to earn 4-5, IF AND WHEN THE TIME COMES........

Jaydeaux, you know NOTHING about football. You thought you were smart last year when you made this your sig quote:
quote:

"I'm bracing myself for a four- or five-loss season. Quote me; put this in your sig quotes" - xiv

And you've been ignoring me ever since.

So SloFlo, you believe Miles magically made 4 games appear on the schedule? And yet Miles has played 2 games more. Hmm....more fuzzy math

I am real, ok I agree GC or someone should have been working on it but it was evident during the spring game he wasnt there. The guy sounds like he's working on it hard. I'm happy for that. Doesn't mean i dont want more from what we have. So, I show something postive and you just bash it.

To be clear, I am not bashing JJ at all. I am casting doubt on one of the top 5 paid staffs in the country (one assumes they must be some of the best in the sport to hold these positions) being able to develop QB's, and, after "improving" the offensive staff this spring the QB is at a third party location receiving coaching/training from someone other than a highly paid staff member. Now why wasn't he coached up by the staff the past two years on a matter such as footwork? It's difficult to go over game film with a player and point out what is being done improperly and the correct way to drop back? I don't get it, I think many of us don't.

ETA: I am not a negatiger, I am a realist.
