You guys have every answer to include Slo saying Saban's players were coaching the team in 07. I want to know what exactly you would do to fix football so we can win it every year and you wont have anything to bitch about except margin of victory.
I think you stay the course and get behind the guy that will land another top 5 class.

So you had to create a new thread for this?

yes, i dont want these highly intellegent football minds to get bogged down arguing things like line play. I want them to lay out their master plans. I know with all the great information they have a real solution is moments away.

WOW, did you come up with that all by yourself? Ok cool so no head coach will fix it? Great idea, keep'm coming

I'm not on Team Negatiger, but this is silly.
There will be plenty of preseason threads about the state of the program in July/August (and I might make one myself), but basically and without going into too much detail, I think it comes down to totally reworking the offensive system (including getting rid of Crowton & Studrawa & possibly others), and also getting a lot more serious about holding players accountable for strength & conditioning.
Other people think that players need to be more sharp and focused in practice and accountable for knowing their assignments and stuff, but I'm sort of leaning toward the position that the real problem lies not with the players not knowing what's going on, but with the coaches not knowing what's going on (and thus causing inevitable on-field confusion for the players).

Stay the course? I thought we were righting the ship? Which is it?

I don't disagree with you Doc. Give him this year to show more improvement. I think GC may have overstayed his welcome and if the OL has another bad year, there should be hell to pay.
The article about the guy training JJ and focusing on footwork, if it works, will cure a lot of ills we had last year (not saying that was the only issue). Add in Gonzales and I think we're going to see a much improved offense next year (couldn't get worse).

If we want to be included in the conversation with bama and uf, we'll need a new coach. If we want to battle it out with au and arky for second in the west, then we should get behind miles. Simple as that. One of the 2nd tier sec teams (and yes that includes lsu) will sneak in to the SECCG from time to time when bama or uf have a rebuild/injury plagued year but we won't garner the national respect that uf and bama do; nor do we deserve to.
You reference the 07 year. The uk game that year was one of the worst coaching performances by miles. We lost two games that year that we should have won.
Further, if you don't believe that lsu has become a 2nd tier team under miles, then list out the 2nd tier teams and see what our record is against them the last two years. I'm sure you'll conjure some execuses that will allow you to believe for at least one more season that we are still an elite sec team. Fact of the matter is the excecuses are too old for some of us to stomache anymore.

I never said a damn thing about righting anything. I will further explain what I meant if you're confused. You stay with Les and the guys he brought in. Please see my reply to Doc for futher clarification.

I think there is genuine hope that this is all legit. If it isn't, and the offense flounders again, then I think Miles might be done. He really put his own skin on the line by retaining Crowton for this season. I think the best case scenario is that Gonzales will be running most of the schematics behind the scenes, but who knows for sure, right?

Again, LSU without a head coach. That should work wonders. Another brilliant suggestion.

Doc, there's no doubt that Miles has drawn the line by keeping GC and sticking by JJ (im not sure what the answer is at QB).
He will do well or go down in flames as you said. I heard the Gonzales interview on Songy a while back. That dude is fired up and I have no doubt that the WR's will be Air tight this year. No presnap penalties, less drops, better backside blocking, being in the right spot when JJ does have to break the pocket. These are things that he said needed work and he said he will insist on prefection from the guys that see the field.
FWIW, thanks for giving some logical points to consider. It's really not that hard but these guys are so eaten up with bullshite they can't do it.

He's trying to Capture that Hal Hunter magic in a bottle. Apparently Saban inherited such a "Downtrodden" Team...#17 Arky really took them to the woodshed in 1999...35-10 LSU

I have taken a poll of the Rant and here are the results:
A. Best LSU quarterback of all time (post-1990, since Rantards don't acknowledge players who were here before they were born):
(1) Jamarcus Russell
(2) in second place by the narrowest of margins, the latest high school phenom to enroll as a freshman.
B. Best LSU football coach of all time (post 1990, for the same reason):
(1) Nick Saban
(2) in second place, by a decisive margin, the latest NFL head coach under the age to 50 to have left his job for any reason.
C. The greatest LSU football team of all time (no time limit, because with these clowns it wouldn't matter anyway):
(1) 2003
(2) The year that we get both (A)(2) and (B)(2).

LOL Sammich.
This is what I expected, a few turds just vomiting "fire Les" with no thought of what that would do. I knew there would be little or no actual ideas b/c at this point we're doing the right thing. He got the D back on track (still a ways to go) and I think we'll look much much better on Offense. No time to waste as the UNC D is stout.
