I think we are in for a long season either way.

I don't hold mistakes made Lee's freshman year against him when he was thrown to the wolves.

With that said I am willing to give The General a shot at redemption.

Remember La. Tech last year? I'll take 2008 Lee over what I saw from 2009 Lee. He couldn't complete passes against a terrible La. Tech D that missing most of its secondary.

Jefferson is the man.

Proof to end all discussion that JL should not start. 2008 numbers on Lee 2009 numbers on JJ and Mcelroy from bama

Yds TD's Ints

JL 1873 14 16
JJ 2166 17 7
JM 2508 17 4

we had a crappy year from the QB position last year. I know Alabama's RB won the Heisman but still look at the difference between these qb numbers

At least with JJ there were games where he did not make any huge mistakes and our O controlled the game
which games? Auburn was the only one i remember. I remember having a defensive stop at the goal line against miss st for us to win. with us scoring a td on defense and one on special teams, our offense was horrendous that game and that was against a mediocre miss st team in the middle of the season.

La tech was after the bama game, which was basically the end of the season bc it clinched the sec west, nobody on the team showed up to play against tech

no i think i'll keep thinking on my own... thanks though.

tell me what Lee and Jefferson's records are as starters in the last 2 years and i'll listen to why JJ is so much better than Lee. i have no problem with JJ starting, but if it's anything like last year, i want Lee in

... and what the frick does McElroy have to do w this?

ya think? that's not the point here, though. he was making it seem like JJ didn't look bad at all last year... and that is false.

I miss understood the point you were making. I though you were saying that somehow JJ's play against Florida= Lee's play against La Tech. As if the competition was equal.

On to what you're saying. I'll agree that Lee looked better against Florida in '08 than JJ did in '09, but I don't think we'll see that Lee again. He lacks confidence and I think to a certain extent the team would be nervous with him out there, whether its deserved or not. We'll see what JJ looks like this year, he's getting plenty of time to prove himself. Hopefully with a run game, he can be more consistent.

it's an oversimplification, but my gut instinct tells me that i would rather lee get first shot as starter when 2-a-days begin, rather than jefferson. lee seems to have more upside, and i want lsu to play for championships, not to have as a team goal the overriding desire to not want to look bad.

that said, whomever wins the job in August wins the job in August. i definitely think it's possible that jefferson could emerge as the better guy for the job by the time the season opener against UNC rolls around.

jesus christ all you have done is say how shitty he was. i never made a single fricking excuse for 2008 all i said was against La Tech the whole team came out flat.

Whats JJ's excuse then against miss st for not scoring more points than miss st on offense?

whats JJ's excuse for not getting in the end zone at home against florida?

whats JJ's excuse for leading the #112 offense in the nation?

wish i wouldve read this before said last post

ill agree with you, but i believe Lee has more of an upside and a better chance to lead us to a championship. but he has the chance to make mistakes

I believe JJ will be consistent and not make any mistakes but i dont see him leading us to anything

2009 LSU Football Final Statistics (9-4, 5-3 SEC)
So JJ won 8 lost 4
JL won 1 lost 0

2008 LSU Football Final Statistics (8-5, 3-5 SEC)
JL won 7 lost 4
JJ won 1 lost 1

So JJ won 9 lost 5
and JL won 8 lost 4

We did not give up.

Lee gave up on himself when he was no longer starter. Positions like QB have a lot of ego that come with them and when a young fragile mind is tormented by the memory of 08 i do not think he can ever play at a high level again.
