I think you missed the points being made entirely and you're wrong, there's plenty of experience on the OL. Certainly more than a true freshman coming in to make his first start ever.

If Curne is starting game 1 (which he's probably not) your OL did not pan out like you thought they would.

No… all reports through camp were that Adams & Davis were starting at OT (I’d imagine that still who we see vs Clemson)

LG was the only spot still TBD

Adams is not new. Neither are Mubenga & Chester. Moore & Thompson maybe new to the team but they are experienced college starters.

All true. Adams only has one or two starts, but he was the first off the bench at G and T last season until he got hurt. He’s played plenty of snaps and is very versatile.

Meh. Weston Davis has hardly played in his time here because of all the experience ahead of him and Curne has been talked about as being physically ready to play since he arrived on campus. If we were talking about Curne pushing Adams, that would be a lot different, but that’s not what’s happening.

And until we see more, this could just be practice rotation to get Curne cross-trained. Even if he doesn’t start, he’s going to play at some point this season.

You would have to ignore everything the coaches and practice reports have said. Adams and Davis pretty much have the tackle spots locked down. Even Sloan said this the other day. Moore has the C position locked down with nobody really challenging it because he's too good. They're likely trying to make Curne versatile and he probably has a better shot to play in the interior this season unless an injury happens. Curne may end up as your 6th lineman 1st off the bench. Curne has been seen in Adams spot as well by media that doesn't mean he's threatening to take his spot. BK wants competition so the starters stay on point.

Not sure why everyone’s takeaway is that the other guys must suck if Curne starts. Maybe Curne is just that good.

I’m betting this was bait for the media to see so Clemson has to plan for it

I think he is just giving Curne looks with the starters. He is a talented freshman that doesn't have a spot yet. They like him at tackle and he has been seen on both left and right side. Personally, I think the team could use him more at guard this year, but it is looking like he will be a sub at tackle this year.

I did see this tidbit from previous practice reports… may be it’s an ongoing issue, may be it’s nothing.

Weston Davis committed a false start and was pulled from the period to run laps.

My point wasn’t that Curne is now the starter. It was that your assertion that it would mean the plan for the OL is suddenly on fire if he did is just plain wrong. A high level recruit taking a job from another high level recruit who’s just a year older and hasn’t played that much would not be the huge thing you are making it out to be.

That’s how competition works and it’s why you recruit multiple impact players at the same positions across the roster. As it stands, I’m pretty confident Adams and Davis will be the starters at Tackle vs Clemson, but I want Curne pushing and breathing down their necks all season trying to take their jobs away. There’s no world where that isn’t a good thing for us this season.

we're talking about a rs freshman vs a freshman. Not a big difference. Glad to see these highly rated recruits are competing for a starting job.
