No first downs. Put the ball at the 25 and give em 4 downs period.

I would like to see OT like the NFL except

NO SUDDEN DEATH

Play the entire OT period, which could be shortened to 8 or 10 minutes. Still tied? play another OT period, repeat until a winner is determined.

College OT is awful. It settles a tie and that's about the only good thing that can be said about it. It removes so many elements from the game(field position, clock strategy, special teams)plus forced 2-point conversion-awful rule. The scores of these games are ridiculous and skews statistics...because OT is essentially a different game than what these teams just spent 60 minutes playing.

One of these years there will be a 5+ OT game played in 90+ degree weather with high humidity, and the players will be dropping like flies in OT. Teams are unlikely to put in fresh players when every play could end the game.

It will take something drastic for the decision makers to do anything until safety is the issue. Personally, I don't understand what is so terrible about a tie that inludes one OT period of regular game rules.

How many OT games go to double or triple OT? I think it is good and the only thing I would change is if the NFL adapted it. I would make the NFL teams start on the 40.

You're right - not a high percentage of OT games go past 2 or 3 OT in college. But, the argument is that it is completely different than how the game is played. In regular football teams make adjustments while the other unit is on the field. Those are usually the best teams - the ones that make the adjustments.

In OT in college, the offensive or defensive units are on the field two straight series. Most peoplethat have a problem with college OT is that it is a completely different game.

I hate the bastardized version of FB played in NCAA OT. No special teams & offense starts already in reasonable field position? What a farce. The rule should be like the NFL: play an extra qtr. If no one scores, let it end in a tie.

Speaking of which, Pat White blew it last night when he didn't kick the fieldgoal in OT. Fresno State would've won the game. It was a frick up of Milesean proportions.

He was probably too busy focusing on the Titans game today.
